Calling BJP general secretary Amit Shah “as agent of BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi”,UP Congress Tuesday demanded a ban on his visits to the state.

CLP leader Pradeep Mathur said: “Through Amit Shah,BJP is trying to create an atmosphere of polarisation. It is clear he is working towards the agenda set by Narendra Modi and their aim is to recreate a Godhra-like situation in Uttar Pradesh.”

He said,“I would ask the Uttar Pradesh Government to ban the visits of Amit Shah because instead of speaking about development issues, they are focusing on disturbing communal harmony in the state. In case the state government does not ban the Shah’s entry in UP,it would be clear that they are also party to creating a divide among the people.”

Mathur called Modi’s projection of “Gujarat development model” as “false” and alleged that “poor management and lack of planning in Gujarat government came out in the open during the recent floods in the state”.

“There is no comparison between Rahul and Modi. While one talks of development issues, other uses cheap publicity to attract attention,” he said.

Mathur said the party would focus on development issues during the election campaign in UP. “Congress would go across state and tell masses about the scheme of UPA that have improved the standard of living. NREGS,PMGSY,Rajiv Gandhi Electrification Scheme,NRHM,Food Security Bill,Land acquisition bill and bill on street vendors’ right would be our focus,” he said.
