The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on Monday condemned the killing of Chandra Nagamallaiah, an Indian motel manager in Dallas, Texas, saying the “gruesome” tragedy was “completely preventable”, had the 37-year-old accused Yordanis Cobos Martinez not been released by the former President Joe Biden’s administration.
In a post on X, the Homeland department said the “criminal illegal alien” Martinez, who decapitated Nagamallaiah in front of his wife and child at the Dallas motel, should not have been in America as he is a Cuban national.
“This vile monster beheaded a man in front of his wife and child and proceeded to kick the victim’s head on the ground,” posted the DHS on X.

The DHS, in its post, further added: “This gruesome, savage slaying of a victim at a motel by Yordanis Cobos-Martinez was completely preventable if this criminal illegal alien was not released into our country by the Biden Administration, since Cuba would not take him back.”
The Homeland department gave the example of Martinez’s act of beheading Nagamallaiah as the reason for “why we are removing criminal illegal aliens to third countries”. The department warned that if someone visits the United States illegally, “you could end up in Eswatini, Uganda, South Sudan, or CECOT.”

Earlier, US President Donald Trump had said that he was aware of the “terrible reports” related to the killing of Chandra Nagamallaiah, whom he described as a “well-respected person in Dallas”. In a post on Truth Social, Trump said Nagamallaiah was “brutally beheaded” by an “illegal alien from Cuba who should never have been in our country”.
The attack on Nagamallaiah took place on September 10, when 37-year-old Martinez, an employee at the Downtown Suites motel on Samuell Boulevard in Dallas attacked the 50-year-old victim with a machete. The two persons were involved in an argument related to a broken washing machine.
The Indian Consulate in Houston, while condoling the death of Nagamallaiah, said, “Consulate General of India, Houston, condoles the tragic death of Mr. Chandra Nagamallaiah, an Indian National, killed brutally at his workplace in Dallas, Texas.”
