Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he spoke with US President Donald Trump for the second time in two days to discuss ways to strengthen Kyiv’s air defences and improve its long-range strike capabilities, Reuters reported. In a post on X, Zelenskyy said the two leaders also discussed Ukraine’s energy sector and agreed to continue their dialogue. “We also discussed many details related to the energy sector. President Trump is well informed about everything that is happening. We agreed to continue our dialogue, and our teams are doing their preparations,” Zelenskyy said. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump held a “very positive and productive” call on Saturday. A day earlier, Zelenskyy had said in an X post that he congratulated Trump on his Middle East deal, calling it “an outstanding achievement”. The Ukrainian President also drew a parallel with the ceasefire in Gaza. “If a war can be stopped in one region, then surely other wars can be stopped as well—including the Russian war,” he had said. The Kremlin said on Sunday that Russia was “deeply concerned” about the possibility of the United States supplying Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, warning that the conflict had reached what it called “a dramatic moment” due to rising tensions. Trump told reporters on Monday that before deciding on the supply of Tomahawk missiles, he wanted clarity on how Ukraine intended to use them. “I would want to know what Ukraine plans to do with them because I do not want to escalate the war,” Trump said, according to Reuters.
