Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman will visit the White House on November 18 to meet US President Donald Trump, CBS News reported, citing sources familiar with the matter.

The meeting will mark the crown prince’s first visit to Washington during Trump’s second term, as Saudi Arabia seeks to finalise a defence agreement with the United States.

Talks on defence and intelligence cooperation

The discussions are expected to focus on military cooperation, intelligence sharing, and agreements made earlier this year during Trump’s four-day Middle East trip in May.

Officials told CBS that both sides are planning a signing event during the visit, though details are still being finalised.

The Trump administration recently signed a defence pact with Qatar, under which the US pledged to treat any armed attack on Qatar as a threat to its own security. Saudi Arabia is now seeking a similar security arrangement.

Previous meetings and relationship

Trump and Mohammed bin Salman, referred to as MBS, last met in May during talks aimed at strengthening economic ties, ending the Israel-Gaza war, and discussing efforts to curb Iran’s nuclear programme, CBS News said.

The crown prince’s last visit to the White House was more than seven years ago. Saudi Arabia was also the first foreign country Trump visited in 2017, and Mohammed bin Salman was the first foreign leader he called after returning to office in January 2025.

During their May meeting in Riyadh, Trump described the US-Saudi partnership as “a bedrock of security and prosperity,” according to CBS.

He has also praised the Saudi leader as “wise beyond his years.”
