A senior Hamas official said on Monday the group has not yet received a written copy of US President Donald Trump’s proposal to end the war in Gaza. “Hamas has not received the written plan,” Mahmoud Mardawi told Al Jazeera Mubasher TV, according to Reuters. His remarks came shortly after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu publicly supported Trump’s proposal at a press conference in Washington. “I support your plan to end the war in Gaza, which achieves our war aims,” Netanyahu said, standing alongside Trump. “It will bring back to Israel all our hostages, dismantle Hamas’ military capabilities, end its political rule, and ensure that Gaza never again poses a threat to Israel.” Netanyahu said the plan would begin with a “modest withdrawal” by Israel and the release of hostages within 72 hours. He added that an international body would then be set up to disarm Hamas and demilitarise Gaza, after which Israel would withdraw further while maintaining a security perimeter.
