As a civilian, it’s difficult to really understand what it is to live a life of an Army kid. They are proudly called ‘Brats’, which is often perceived negatively — thanks to the general perception that they get to travel across the country, meet new people, boast about it and live a more liberal lifestyle. But an Army kid and RJ, Shyam Renganathan, in his video, tells you that being an Army BRAT means ‘Born Raised And Transferred’.
In his powerful monologue, Renganathan narrates how being an Army BRAT means leaving school, friends, surroundings every two years — which effectively translates to starting over and over again, and it’s not easy. International experiences means going to the border and be told “that is theirs and this side is ours”.
“Arey yaar, Army main to tumhe sab kuch free milta hai. Never ever ever say that to me,” he says and explains why.
