Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently met with some of India’s top gamers to talk about the future of the gaming industry. The post shared by @ignindia and @mashable.india explains how during the meeting, PM Modi chatted with gamers like Animesh Agarwal, Mithilesh Patankar, Payal Dhare, Naman Mathur, and Anshu Bisht.
They discussed things like the increasing number of games based on Indian mythology, the perception of gaming as a career in India and the participation of women in the industry.
A report from The News Minute mentions PM Modi asked about the challenges gamers face in India and if there are misunderstandings about the industry. He also asked about the dilemma between choosing skill-based games and those that offer a steady and fast income. The gamers suggested there should be a distinction between the two types of games. They also talked about concerns over video game addiction.
During the meeting, PM Modi tried different types of games like VR, PC, console, and mobile gaming, stated the report. The report also explained how the government has assigned the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to make rules for online gaming and tasked the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports with overseeing e-sports.
Netizens expressed their thoughts on the same. Some comments were leaning towards negativity but one user, in support of the initiative, added, “Bro supported Indian gamers from competing with global player to just Indian server from the very beginning.” Another wrote, “We have seen Modiji play games before GTA 6.”
