An X user recently said he found a Microsoft employee driving an auto-rickshaw to deal with loneliness on weekends in Bengaluru. Venkatesh Gupta shared a photo of the man wearing a hoody jacket with Microsoft’s logo embroidered on it.
“Met a 35 year old staff software engineer at Microsoft in Koramangala driving Namma Yatri to combat loneliness on weekends,” Gupta wrote on X.

Shared on July 21, the post triggered a sea of hilarious reactions, and accumulated over 3,54,000 views.
“This is what happens when you speak only one language in a city (BLR) where more than 50% of people are outsiders,” said a user. “Or May be the blue screen just got extended,” another commented. “Result of outage? Microsoft searching for crowdstrike,” a third user reacted.
They were referring to the major disruption in Microsoft Corp’s cloud services which caused service disruptions to several businesses around the world, including in India, on July 19. The next day, Microsoft said the global tech outage was related to a software update by cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike and affected nearly 8.5 million Microsoft devices.
However, a section of users dismissed the claim of a Microsoft employee driving an autorickshaw.
“This is post is because the guy was wearing a microsoft hoodie and not because he was an actual engineer.” Another user wrote, “Are you sure he actually works there and not just wearing donated merchandise?”
“I am sure this isn’t true. Employees sometimes do give away their merchandise/gifts,” one user reacted.
