A wholesome video of two non-Indians—South Korean content creator Dasom Her and a Bhutanese citizen—fluently conversing in Bengali is raking in likes on Instagram.
The Bhutanese man, who is from Phuntsholing, says that he picked up the language from his guests. It appears that he works in the hospitality industry. In the video shared on Friday, Dasom Her says that they both speak fluent Bengali but are not Bengalis.
The video of this sweet interaction between the two has got over 1.2 lakh likes.
An Instagram user commented, “Ohh I just realised that Bengali and Marathi sounds kinda similar .. when she said tumhi bengali kuthe shikle something like that . It’s very much marathi 😍 I thought you were taking in marathi. Very nice. I love bengali language it’s very sweet ❤️ ”. Another user wrote, “It’s my first time seeing a Korean and a Bhutanese talking in Bengali! As a Bengali , I’m proud that more people are loving our language! ✨ 💗 ”.
Many people also expressed mixed reactions. An Instagram user wrote, “I feel so proud of this conversation and at the same time am ashamed of myself for not being able to read bengali”. Another user wrote, “Being a Bangali i can’t read Bengali💀 I feel Embarassed at this point”.
