India is celebrating its 78th Independence Day today, commemorating the nation’s freedom from British colonial rule on August 15, 1947. This day honours all the freedom fighters who refused to remain under the British Raj, sacrificing their lives to fight against it. In a special tribute, author Arun Krishnan has touched hearts by sharing a video of him playing the national anthem, Jana Gana Mana, on a guitar and a harmonica.
“On the eve of our #IndependenceDay2024 , here are two versions of our National Anthem — One on the guitar, and the other on the harmonica. Dedicated to all those who defend us!” Krishnan wrote on X.
With over 13,000 views, the author won plaudits for the effort. Several social media users reacted to the video. A user wrote, “How the instruments bring out very different flavors. Harmonica sounded so cheerful.” Another user commented, “Excellent rendition in both. I also noted that you stood when playing. Hats off!”
“Wow, I loved the harmonica version even more. You are blessed by MA Saraswati in more ways than one. Vande Matram,” a third user said.
Meanwhile, Google Doodle marked India’s Independence Day 2024 with architecture as the theme, paying homage to the spectacular architecture across the country.
This year’s Google Doodle is illustrated by Vrinda Zaveri. The search engine giant posted, “Today’s Doodle, illustrated by Vrinda Zaveri, celebrates Independence Day in India! On this day in 1947, India gained its freedom from colonial rule.”
