A taxi driver from Himachal Pradesh’s Manali is winning plaudits for going out of his way to return a lost bag consisting of equipment worth lakhs. X user Nikhil Saini posted the clip in response to another post that claimed, “Perks of leaving India. Lose your MacBook and the authorities will return it to you.”

Saini countered that claim by sharing the video showing a tourist from Mumbai describing how he misplaced his bag during a trip to Manali. The bag contained valuable camera gear, including a camera worth Rs 4 lakh. He expresses heartfelt gratitude to the taxi driver who located the bag and returned it to him, thanking him on camera for his kindness.

Sharing the video, Saini wrote, “Indians dont believe in exaggerating nor do we have a culture of loud PR, yet real heroes walk among us. Last month a Manali taxi driver Satish Kumar found a bag worth almost ten lakh with a camera and costly gear. He drove all the way just to return it to the tourist.”

Saini further emphasised that genuine honesty is very much alive in the country, noting that while Indians may not engage in extravagant publicity, “true heroes walk among us.” He reiterated that taxi driver Satish Kumar discovered a bag valued at nearly Rs 10 lakh and drove a considerable distance solely to return it to its rightful owner.

The video amassed over three lakh views, prompting an array of reactions. “This…precisely this kind of ppl & experiences make me wonder how mysterious India actually is. On one hand there are gov officials who only exist to loot & on other hand there are many middle class folks who are this honest. Amazing!!” a user wrote. “It’s okay bro, never explain. Those who love you don’t need it and those who hate won’t believe it,” another user commented.

“I can post such incidents of people returning belongings to those who lost or forgot them in the streets, shopping, and public places. When people criticize India, they should know that this country has many positive aspects and advantages compared to many other countries,” a third user reacted.
