Harry Styles, former One Direction heartthrob, found himself in a harrowing situation as his latest stalker Myra Carvalho, was sentenced to 14 weeks behind bars.
Carvalho, 35, who targeted the singer with an unsettling barrage of 8,000 cards in less than a month, faced the music at Harrow Crown Court, held at Hendon Magistrates’ Court in London. Pleading guilty to stalking charges involving serious distress, Carvalho was slapped with a 10-year restraining order, prohibiting her from attending any of Styles’ events.
Reports from BBC News indicate that Carvalho, residing in a hostel in Kensington and Chelsea, South West London, was also forbidden from contacting Styles or entering certain areas of North West London. Additionally, she was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £134 (Rs 13818.18).
This is not the first time the singer has faced such a disturbing intrusion. In 2022, he was targeted by another stalker, Diana Tarazaga-Orero, 29, who managed to force her way into his home, which led Styles to bolster his security measures, including hiring a night guard and installing a panic lock on his bedroom door, The Sun reported.
Carvalho’s barrister, Clementine Simon, revealed that Carvalho’s doctor in Brazil suspected she was experiencing a manic episode, raising questions about her fitness to enter a plea. Carvalho’s unsettling actions serve as a stark reminder of the dangers celebrities often face from overzealous fans turned stalkers.
