Amid multiple reports of harassment by cab drivers in Bengaluru, a Google engineer has now claimed that an Uber driver in the city abused him and threatened to throw him out of the cab. Taking to X, the techie shared the cab’s registration number and confirmed the driver’s identity.
Sharing his “first bad experience” in Bengaluru, he wrote, “Booked this Uber @Uber_India the estimated journey time was 1.5 hours. For the first 30 minutes, the driver constantly kept talking over his phone on a loudspeaker. I and my friend, got some headache after a while, and asked him politely to use headphones, or talk later. Guess what happened next.”

Soon after, the post caught the internet’s attention with several users saying they could relate to the incident and sharing similar incidents. One netizen posted, “Hahah during every single ride from airport to Marathali this happens with me. Lets file a petition to stop unlimited calling.”
Responding to it, Uber India asked the user to share the contact details. “This is concerning, Ansar. Such behavior is unacceptable, and we prioritize your safety above all else. Kindly send your registered Uber account contact details through Direct Message, and our safety team will contact you shortly,” Uber India Support replied.
Another user complained, “Once I boarded an uber 5 in the morning and that guy was on a call with his buddy for the entire trip. Subh 5 baje kis se baat kar raha hai bhai (Who is he talking to at 5 am?).” Responding to it, Uber India said, “Hey, if there is a specific trip that you would like us to look into. Kindly share the date and time of the trip along with your registered contact details via Direct message. Our team will look into it.”
Recently, an Ola autorickshaw driver in Bengaluru allegedly harassed a customer over the fare of a ride. According to the passenger, the autorickshaw driver threatened him, demanding an increased fare from HSR Layout to Whitefield.
