A video of massive waves sweeping a woman away in Russia’s Sochi got the Internet talking on Wednesday. The incident took place on June 16 when the woman, 20, was strolling by the beach with her boyfriend.

The viral video shows the couple walking by the beach holding hands and teasing each other, before being knocked off by strong waves. While the man manages to save himself, the waves sweep the woman away. Towards the end of the video, the helpless man can be seen searching for his girlfriend.

Sharing the video, X user Collin Rugg wrote, “Woman gets swept out to sea as her boyfriend frantically tries to help save her in Sochi, Russia. Devastating. The incident reportedly happened while the couple was visiting from the Russian city of Lipetsk.”

“The couple could be seen going to the water’s edge when massive waves came and swallowed the woman, an unidentified 20-year-old. The man tried to save her but it was too late. “The search has not returned any results at this time. The work continues,” the Southern Regional Search and Rescue Brigade said,” he wrote.

According to the reports, rescuers have expanded their search from Riviera beach to the Mamayka microdistrict.
