Apple iOS 18 may have been the biggest software update to iPhones in the last few years, but since its launch, many users have reported they are not getting notifications from their favourite apps. If you are not getting any notifications on your iPhone, here are 10 quick fixes you can try to fix the issue.

  1. 01

    Toggle app notifications

If you are not getting notifications from select apps, chances are you might have turned off notifications for that app. To see if it is the case, head over to device settings, tap on Notifications and find the app you aren't getting notifications from.

If you have turned off notifications for the app, just enable the 'Allow Notifications' toggle and you are good to go. But in case notifications are already enabled for that app, try disabling and re-enabling the toggle to see if the problem is fixed.

  2. 02

    Check in-app notification settings

While iPhone allows users to disable notifications on a per-app basis, some apps have their own notification settings. For example, you can control which notifications WhatsApp sends by opening the app settings and heading over to the 'Notifications' section.

  3. 03

Try enabling Notification Center on the lock screen

Are you seeing notifications on the home screen but not getting any on the lock screen? Chances are you might have disabled the Notification Center. To enable it, launch the Settings app on your iPhone, tap on 'Face ID & Passcode' and enable the toggle named 'Notification Center'.

    Turn off Focus Mode

A while ago, Apple introduced a feature called 'Focus Mode' that automatically mutes any notifications even when you aren't using it. To see if the feature is preventing notifications from appearing, open Control Center on your device, tap and hold Focus.

If you are unable to find it, Apple automatically replaces the name of the option with the name of the Focus Mode that's active at the moment. Once done, choose the Focus Mode you want to disable.

One thing to note here is that some Focus Modes might automatically turn on even if you turn them off manually. To prevent this from happening, tap on the three dots right to the Focus Mode tile, select Smart Activation or Custom Schedule and proceed to tap on the Delete Schedule button.

  5. 05

Disable Focus Mode sharing across devices

If you are in the Apple ecosystem, chances are you might have unknowingly enabled Focus Mode for all your Apple devices. To turn off Focus Mode across devices, open the Settings app on your phone, click on Focus and disable the toggle named 'Share Across Devices'.

    Try disabling Notification Summary

Apple recently introduced Notification Summary on the latest iOS 18, a feature that uses AI to summarise your notifications. While it is quite handy, the feature's Scheduled Summary option might be silencing app notifications.

To disable Scheduled Summary, open the Settings app on your phone, tap on Notifications, find and click on 'Scheduled Summary'. On the screen that appears, turn off the toggle and you are done.

  7. 07

Allow apps to refresh in the background

A reason why you might not be getting notifications for an app is that it might not be able to refresh itself in the background. To enable it, open the Settings app, tap on General and choose the option named 'Background App Refresh.' Now, select 'Wi-Fi & Cellular Data', head back and turn on the feature for the apps you want to refresh in the background.

Disable Low Power and Low Data mode

If your iPhone is running low on battery, chances are you might have enabled Low Power mode. While the feature is handy at times, it is known to prevent apps from refreshing in the background and prevent them from sending notifications. To disable it, tap on Battery in the Settings app and disable the 'Low Power Mode' toggle.

Another reason why you might be missing out on notifications is the 'Low Data Mode'. The functionality is useful if you are running out of mobile data, but is known to prevent apps from using any data in the background. To disable it, open Settings, head over to Cellular and tap on 'Cellular Data Options.' Now, click on 'Data Mode' and change it to 'Standard'.

  9. 09

    Restart your iPhone

Tried all the aforementioned solutions but still not getting any notifications from your favourite apps? Try restarting your iPhone, as it might help fix any temporary bugs and glitches.

In case you forgot, hold the volume up or the volume down button alongside the power button until a slider appears. Drag it from the left to right and your phone will turn off. Power it up using the power button and wait some time for it to boot up.

  10. 10

Update to the latest iOS version

Sometimes, it's not your fault that you aren't getting any notifications on your iPhone. In the last few weeks, several iPhone users on Reddit and other social media platforms have reported that they tried everything but still weren't getting any notifications on their devices.

To fix the issue, try installing the latest software update to see if it fixes the issue. If you are already on the latest version, the only resort might be to reset the iPhone or wait for a software update that fixes the problem.
