Rare second full moon of the month,famously known as the ‘Blue Moon’ was visible on Friday night all over the world. People in India were out of their houses to have the rarest sight of the ‘Blue Moon’.
Although the moon was not coloured blue.
The moon gets its blue colour from the dust particles and the smoke present in the atmosphere. The event takes place once after every two and half years. In a statement to the media,Science Popularisation Association of Communicators and Educators (SPACE) president CB Devgun said, The moon,rarely has a blue appearance – often caused by smoke from large-scale fires or excessive dust particles in the atmosphere.
The moon cycle takes about 29.53days to complete,that is almost a month. That is why there is one full moon once a month,but a ‘Blue Moon’ happens once in every two and a half years on an average.

The next look of ‘Blue Moon’ will be seen after three years on July 31,2015 most likely.
