Vivo has announced the launch of its latest operating system, Funtouch OS 14, for its international users. The Android 14-based update offers a host of improvements and enhancements to deliver a smoother and more personalised user experience. Here are some of the highlights.

One of the key features of Funtouch OS 14 is Smooth Envision, which aims to make the OS experience smoother in every aspect. By optimising the RAM usage and reducing the number of background processes, Funtouch OS 14 improves the system performance and responsiveness, allowing users to keep more apps active at the same time.

Funtouch OS 14 also introduces a visual enhancement called Motion Blur, which simulates motion blur effects when opening and closing apps on the home screen. This feature is available on select smartphone models only, though.

The update also introduces a range of new personalisation options, enabling users to express their unique style. Users can now customise the clock style on the lock screen, choosing from three clock layout styles and eight font styles. New always on display styles and a new minimalist theme have also been added. The new minimalist theme, called MY colour palette, is based on Material You design and offers a simple and elegant look with a diverse selection of colours to choose from.

The update also improves multitasking with its upgraded small window feature. Users can now easily adjust the size and position of the small windows with improved visibility of adjustment lines.

For scenarios where users want to focus on one app but still monitor another, such as watching a video while waiting for a ride-hailing service, Funtouch OS 14 offers a new non-interactive mini small window mode. Users can switch between the small window modes with a single tap.

Funtouch OS 14 also comes with enhanced video editing capabilities, making it easier for users to create unique and captivating content without relying on third-party apps. Users can now export videos in their original quality, supporting lossless export. Customisable video quality settings, including resolutions up to 4K at 60FPS, give users greater creative control.

The update also pays attention to user privacy and security, introducing a new Smart Mirroring feature that allows users to share their screen without worrying about revealing any personal information from the notification bar. Furthermore, users’ hidden photos are now protected with an additional password verification step.

Funtouch OS 14 will be available for download starting from mid-October on vivo X90 Pro and iQOO 11.
