Are Apple’s new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus waterproof? While Apple didn’t mention anything of the sort during their launch event, a video by YouTuber Zach Straley shows that the two devices work just fine even when submerged in water for well over an hour.

The video shows Straley submerge both iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus in two bowls of water, pulling them out after 30 minutes, 45 minutes and an hour later.

After 30 minutes and 45 minutes, Straley tests the camera and 3D Touch which surprisingly work well. After an hour of being submerged in water, Straley removes the devices and dries them.

The screen and 3D Touch working perfectly with no signs of water residue. Even the camera works perfectly with no water droplets around the camera sensor visible.

Straley has also uploaded another video showing functionality of devices 48 hours after being submerged in water. He notes that screen, 3D Touch, Camera, headphone jack, speakers, lighting port works perfectly. The only caution being a diagonal line across the display on iPhone 6s.

While the devices have held well against this waterproof test, it needs to be noted that Apple doesn’t advertise its new iPhones to be waterproof or water resistant, so if you do get an iPhone, don’t do such water tests. The warranty won’t cover any damage that occurs.
