Samsung today announced that it is rolling out Irregular Heart Rhythm Notification (IHRN) for Galaxy Watch users in India. In case you are unaware, Atrial fibrillation, popularly known as AFib is one of the most common arrhythmias and is basically an irregular heart rhythm that beginds in the upper chambers of the heart (atria). It is generally asymptomatic and increases the risk of stroke and heart failure.

Available with the latest version of the Samsung Health Monitor app, IHRN uses the BioActive sensor to continuously check for irregular heart rhythms in the background. When certain number of measurements are irregular, Galaxy Watch will warn you about potential AFib activity and ask users to take an ECG reading for a more accurate measurement to give an insight about your cadiovascular health.

While IHRN has been available on Galaxy Watches for quite some time in other parts of the world, it was unavailable in India because of governmental limits on obtaining approval or registration as a medical device.
