Nothing has launched the Ear (3) on September 18, the latest generation of its wireless earbuds. The new model introduces a Super Mic system, a refreshed design with metal accents, and several audio upgrades while retaining the brand’s signature transparent aesthetic.
The Super Mic is a dual-microphone system with ambient-filtering technology that isolates your voice and suppresses background noise of up to 95 dB. It can be activated using the TALK button on the charging case, allowing for quick conversations or longer calls. The earbuds also include three directional microphones and a bone-conduction Voice Pick-up Unit, which detects micro-vibrations from the jaw and ear canal for more precise voice capture
To ensure clarity in all conditions, this system is paired with an AI-powered multi-channel environmental noise cancellation engine trained on over 20 million hours of real-world audio. It cuts wind noise by more than 25 dB, while real-time adaptive noise cancellation adjusts every 600 milliseconds to match surroundings, and checks for fit-related leakage every 1,875 milliseconds.
On the audio front, the Ear (3) features an upgraded 12mm dynamic driver with a patterned diaphragm that delivers a 20 per cent larger radiating surface. This results in treble boosted by up to 4 dB and bass response improved by 4–6 dB, producing a richer, cleaner soundstage.
The transparent case now incorporates a proprietary Metal-Insulator-Metal (MIM) antenna, just 0.35 mm thick, which increases radiated power by 15 per cent and improves signal sensitivity by 20 per cent. The case is made entirely of recycled aluminium and undergoes 27 precision manufacturing processes.
Each earbud houses a 55 mAh battery (90 minutes more than the previous model), offering up to 10 hours of playback per charge and 38 hours with the case. A quick 10-minute USB-C charge provides another 10 hours of listening, and wireless charging is also supported.
