On Wednesday, Nikon announced its latest zoom-centric digital camera, the COOLPIX P1100, featuring a lens with a focal length equivalent to 3000mm that offers a 125x optical super-telephoto zoom. This is the successor to the COOLPIX P1000, which was introduced in 2018 and was recently discounted and known for its optical zooming capabilities. The COOLPIX P1100 comes with a fixed lens with a variable focal length ranging from 24mm to 3,000mm equivalent. This delivers an optical zoom range of 12x and a digital zoom, also known as Dynamic Fine Zoom, of 250x. Not just in terms of imaging, but the camera also excels in video recording with support for up to 4K at 30fps. The camera is equipped with a 16.79 MP 1 type CMOS sensor and also comes with a 3.2-inch monitor along with a dedicated viewfinder. It supports external output to a monitor via a micro HDMI port and supports SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards. Featuring a removable battery, which can take up to 260 shots or record up to 1 hour and 10 minutes of video footage (up to 29 minutes of continuous recording), it offers everything that one would expect from a modern digital camera. With dedicated modes like bird-watching and Moon, which can be accessed using the physical dial, the camera offers great flexibility in framing and capturing the subject, even in challenging lighting conditions. It can also be paired with a remote control via Bluetooth.
