Google Android 7.0 Nougat will release for all eligible Nexus smartphones next month: Here are the top points to note.
Google’s Android Nougat will release as early as next month for users, confirms tipster Evan Blass. Blass put out a tweet saying Android 7.0 releases next month with 8/5 security patch. Google Nexus 5 owners, however, will not be able to access Android Nougat. “Android 7.0 releases next month, with the 8/5 security patch. Sorry Nexus 5 owners, no Nougat for you,” said Blass in a tweet.
Google started rolling out the Developer Preview 5 of Android 7.0 Nougat with final APIs back in late July. The Developer Preview 5 offers near-final system updates for all the supported devices. Google, however, is dropping support for Nexus 5 which is almost three years old.
According to Android Police, Android Nougat is expected to bring a number of new features for the Camera app. The report says the grid menu in the Camera app now supports three new grids – 4×4 grid, golden ratio overlay and a standard square one. The interface of the Camera app has been tweaked a bit with the grid option now available on the main viewfinder screen.
The final Developer Preview of Nougat offers system images for Google’s Nexus range and other preview devices including Android One and Sony’s Xperia Z3. The new version comes with an emulator that can be used for final testing of developer apps. The Developer Preview 5 issues latest bug fixes and software optimisation. The most important system changes include Doze on the Go, background optimisations, screen zoom and other permission changes. Check out Evan Blass’s tweet here:
