Apple recently unveiled the most powerful iMac, and now it’s time for the new Mac mini. Powered by the Apple M4 and the M4 Pro, the company’s latest and most powerful chipsets to date, Apple has also redesigned the already small desktop machine, bringing the length and width down to five inches.

Compared to the previous generation M1 model, Apple says the new Mac mini offers up to 1.8x and 2.2x faster CPU and GPU performance. On the connectivity front, the new Mac mini now has ports on both the front and back including a Thunderbolt 5 connector, which is a first for the pocket-sized desktop. Apple says that the new Mac mini also supports Apple Intelligence, the company’s AI-powered set of features that can help with certain complex tasks.

To give you a quick recap, the base variant of the new Mac mini features a 10-core CPU, a 10-core GPU and comes with 16GB of unified memory. If you want more power, the new Mac mini also features an M4 Pro variant, a 14-core CPU that comes with 10 performance cores, four efficiency cores and increased multi-threaded performance.

The Pro chipset also packs a much faster GPU, which Apple claims is “up to twice as powerful as the GPU in M4.” It also supports up to 64GB of unified memory and 273GB/s of memory bandwidth, which the company says it twice as much bandwidth as any AI PC chip when it comes to accelerating AI workloads.

On the connectivity front, the new Mac mini features two USB-C front-facing ports with USB 3 support, one 3.5mm headphone jack and one HDMI port. While the M4-powered Mac mini has three Thunderbolt 4 ports on the back, the M4 Pro variant features three Thunderbolt 5 ports. Another difference between the two is that the non-Pro version supports up to two 6K displays and one 5K display, whereas the M4 Pro-powered Mac mini can support up to three 6K displays at 60Hz.

The new Apple Mac mini with M4 starts at Rs 59,900 while the M4 Pro version starts from Rs 1,49,900. For education, they are priced at Rs 49,900 and Rs 1,39,900 respectively. It is currently available for pre-order and will be available on Apple website and official stores from November 8.
