
Reliance AGM 2023 Today Live Updates: The Annual General Meeting (Post-IPO of Jio Financial Services Ltd) of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) is happening on Monday with the company expected to announce its financials along with an affordable 5G-capable JioPhone as well as several IoT devices, powered by the Jio network. During its 46th AGM, Reliance made several new announcements, including the launch date for its Jio AirFiber, which offers broadband-like internet speeds using a 5G network, which will go official on September 19 on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. Similarly, the company also highlighted its new initiative to bring over 200 million 2G users to 4G with the help of affordable devices like Jio Bharat, a 4G feature phone with support for video streaming, UPI payments, and more.
The company also highlighted that it is developing in-house 5G solutions and will have over 1 million 5G cells by the end of 2023. Similarly, the company is also working on connected home solutions with Jio Smart Home services. Reliance is also working on developing India-specific AI models and will also set up a battery Giga factory by 2026.
RIL is to setup a battery Giga factory by 2026 and will also include a battery recycling unit. The company is also focused on commercialising sodium ion cell production along with the integration of energy storage with wind and solar power.
Jio platform aims at developing India-specific AI models and is committed to create 200 MW AI-ready computing capacity.
RIL partners with HP and Google to introduce Jio Cloud PC, an affordable laptop, likely to be powered by Android OS.
RIL announces Jio Smart Home services. Jio Fiber has over 10 million subscribers and with the AirFiber the company looks at additional 200 million users. Jio Smart Home services can be accessed via the JioHome app and the company is using AI to optimise the Wi-Fi network.
JioAiFiber uses a 5G network and wireless technology to bypass the need for last-mile fiber. RIL expects over 250 million users to sign up for Jio AirFiber.
JioBharat is an affordable 4G phone for Rs 999 with features like live TV, video streaming, digital photography and more to convert these 2G network users to 4G.
Jio 5G network is powered by in-home developed technology with features like carrier aggregation and network slicing.
96% of census towns are covered by 5G. Jio has become the fastest company to roll out a 5G network in the world. The company aims at 1 million 5G users in the country by the end of 2023. From December 2023 (1 million 5G cells), Jio 5G broadband connection will be available across the country.
The average user now consumes over 25 GB of data every month on the Jio network with an overall data consumption of 1,000 crore GB with 450 million subscribers.
