Truecaller in iOS 10 to have Spam Caller Id

Truecaller in iOS will have Spam Caller ID for fighting spam calls.

Apple iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus event is now over and iOS 10 will be rolled out to users across the world on September 13. Apple iOS 10 will be compatible with iPhone 5 and later, all iPad Air, Pro models, iPad 4th generation, iPad mini 2 and later, and iPod touch 6th generation. Truecaller is launching its integration with the new CallKit Extension in iOS 10, and claims this will drastically reduce spam calls for iPhone users. According to Truecaller, users in India get nearly 300 million unwanted calls per month, while over 20 million US consumers end up paying more than $7.4 billion dollars annually, thanks to these spam calls.

So how does the new Truecaller integration feature work on iOS 10? Truecaller’s extension will automatically identify and show if a call has previously been reported as spam or comes from a reputable business. According to Truecaller, for users on iOS, this means an end to searching manually for an unknown number, especially if a user has chosen not to answer the call. With Truecaller Spam Call ID displaying the exact information on the call, a user will know which calls to return, and which ones to avoid.

“Working closely with Apple over the past few months, we’re proud to bring a call solution to your iPhone to provide safe and authentic communication,” says Tom Hsieh, VP Partnerships & Growth at Truecaller in a press statement.

“With the massive increase in robocalls, telemarketing and phone scams, it’s more important than ever to know who’s calling you. In our early testing, we’ve seen Spam detection rates on iPhone increase by more than 50% in some markets, reaching upwards of 90% of all spam calls made to our users. And with our dogged focus on data quality, we fully expect these rates to continue improving for the benefit of our users,” he added.

Truecaller is also adding a new “My Block List” feature on iPhone. This will let users control who can contact them. iPhone’s own Phone app also has a built-in Block option for users, and it blocks all messages, FaceTime, Calls from that particular number.

So how can a user enable Spam Call ID on iOS? After installing iOS 10, make sure you install the latest version of Truecaller on your iPhone. Then go to Settings->Phone->Call Blocking and Identification to turn on the feature.
