This Diwali, get LEDs at one-third price under new scheme

The Electricity Distribution Company and Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) has launched a scheme under which consumers can avail LED bulbs at one-third of the market price.

LED bulbs will be available between Rs 100 to Rs 105 under this offering. Usually LED bulbs from high-end companies cost around Rs 250 and more.

Under the DELP scheme, a domestic household can avail a buy a minimum of 2 and a maximum of ten LED bulbs. Non-domestic households can avail up to 15 LEDs.

EESL, a public sector body of Government of India, claims that the bulbs provided under the scheme consume only one-tenth of energy compared to bulbs available in the market. It also said that using these LEDs can reduce electricity bills by up to Rs 160 to Rs 400 per bulb.

“Every grid-connected consumer having a metered connection from their respective Electricity Distribution Company can get the LED bulbs under the DELP Scheme. The consumer is eligible to purchase the designated number of bulbs, at an advance cost of Rs. 10 each and the balance amount of Rs 93 will be recovered from the electricity bill in 9 monthly installments,” said Saurabh Kumar, Managing Director, EESL.
