Samsung’s budget Galaxy Z Fold rumoured to start from $800

In the last few years, Samsung has denied that it is working on a cheaper Fold variant, but several leaks and rumours have hinted that the phone maker is considering bringing a cheaper fold model in 2024. The report by SisaJournal also suggests that the cheaper Fold variant may be priced somewhere around $800 (approx. Rs 66,500) which is less than half the price of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 (review), which starts from Rs 1,54,999.

On the hardware front, Samsung is expected to cut down on specs to bring the price down. The publication suggests that the cheaper Fold phone won’t be powered by a top-of-the-line chipset and that the phone maker may also opt for a cheaper display and battery.

However, one interesting to note here is that the affordable Galaxy Z Fold might feature the same camera setup as the normal Galaxy Z Fold 6. Rumour also has it that the phone may not support the S-Pen, which requires a digitizer to work. According to a recent post on X/Twitter by the known tipster Revegnus, Samsung might start mass production of components for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Flip 6 in early May, but Samsung might unveil the cheaper Fold 6 between September and October.
