OnePlus devices in China run on ColorOS, not OxygenOS.(Express Photo)AI was the buzzword last year, but it looks like that will soon be replaced by AI-powered smartphones. With Google and Samsung bringing new AI features to their latest flagship series, it looks like OnePlus will be the next phone manufacturer to jump on the bandwagon.
While the OnePlus 12 (review) – the company’s latest and most powerful phone to date did not have any AI trickeries up its sleeve at launch, the newest ColorOS update in China aims to change that.
According to a post on X (formerly Twitter) by the known Android tinkerer Mishaal Rehman, a Reddit user who goes by the name ‘milkyteapls’ discovered that the ColorOS 14 version PHB110_14.0.0.403(CN01) update introduces several AI-powered features to the recently launched OnePlus 12 and the year-old OnePlus 11.
OnePlus is rolling out an update to the @oneplus 11 in China that adds several AI features, likely in a bid to compete with Samsung. According to the changelog:

The latest ColorOS update brings an AI Summariser that can help generate summaries by reading places, times, action items and other information from your calls.
OnePlus also seems to have added a new functionality called “AIGC Remover” that can help you remove unwanted objects or people from images, which sounds similar to Google’s Magic Eraser.
The update also introduces “Article summariser”, which as the name suggests, can help summarise an article at the touch of a button. Next up is ‘Breeno Touch’, a functionality that can help ‘recognize onscreen content and provide quick access to relevant services.’
While these AI-powered functionalities are currently limited to the Chinese variants of the OnePlus 11 and the OnePlus 12, it is still unclear if the company will bring these features to the global version of the phones.
