iPhone 16 series smartphones have been in the market for just over a month, and buyers can’t seem to stop complaining about battery drain issues. According to multiple posts on online channels like Reddit, Apple support forums, and other user forums, users are disgruntled with the battery life of their new iPhones, which Apple claimed, would last all day.
Many users are reporting excess battery drain, even on the bigger iPhone 16 Pro Max (review), which has the biggest battery Apple has ever featured on an iPhone.
An iPhone 16 Pro Max user on Reddit wrote, “I just got the iPhone 16 Pro Max, and I noticed the charge left while idle is way worse than my iPhone 13 Pro Max. Literally, within like 3-4 hours of being idle while I sleep, it lost about 15-20%, which compared to my iPhone 13 Pro Max is abysmal because it loses only a few percentage points. Is anyone else experiencing the same issue, and is it related to iOS 18? I really hope so because I don’t want the phone to have problems like this.”

Similarly, another disheartened iPhone 16 Pro user wrote, “I have the iPhone 16 Pro (review), and the battery is terrible – lasts about 5-6 hours of on-screen time before hitting 20%. It’s been a week of use, and nothing changed.”
Most iPhone users are currently anticipating a software update to take away these battery woes, but Apple has neither acknowledged the issue nor promised to deliver a software update that could fix it.
As of now, there is no concrete solution to fix the battery life problem of the iPhone 16 series. However, for some users, deleting the calendar app will do the trick, and for others, disabling features like always-on display and ProMotion is helping the cause. In fact, some users are going as far as completely resetting their devices, but the result of doing that isn’t very promising. Again, these are some critical features on iPhones, and deleting and disabling them is definitely not a permanent fix.
Apple is expected to release the iOS 18.1 update with the goodness of Apple Intelligence by the end of October. Only time will tell if the update will really help improve the battery life on the latest iPhones.
