Microsoft has started rolling out the Windows 10 Anniversary update to all existing Windows 10 users. The Anniversary update is the first major update to Windows 10 since its launch on July 29 last year. With Windows 10, Microsoft has decided to stop annnouncing a new operating system every three year and rather develop one OS that can be refreshed with new features over time.

Microsoft has updated Windows 10 almost three times since the launch and also runs an Insider Preview Programme which allows Windows users to test the forthcoming updates even before the launch and offer feedback on bugs. The Windows 10 Anniversary Update is centred around Windows Ink, Cortana and Microsoft Edge browser. The Anniversary update is being rolled out to over 350 million PC running Windows 10 across the world in stages with newer machines getting it first. The update is being pushed over-the-air and will automatically download and install in the background if you have chosen automatic updates. The Windows 10 users can even check manually for the update and upgrade to Anniversary update, which is listed as Feature update to Windows 10, version 1607. Windows 10 Anniversary Update can also be downloaded in the form of an ISO file to your PC.

What’s new with Windows 10 Anniversary Update:

Windows Ink: Microsoft does inking on a digital canvas better than anyone else out there. With Windows 10 Anniversary Update, Microsoft is creating a new environment for Surface Pen and other devices supporting styluses. Windows Ink is basically an environment inside Windows 10 with its own canvas for taking notes, sketching on a screenshot or even create a new idea with Pen.

With Anniversary update, Microsoft is unifying that to make a new Skype Preview app which will come installed with every Windows 10 PC.
