Meanwhile, what's up with Arshad Nadeem you ask?

The Paris Olympics gold medallist Arshad Nadeem has not been seen in action for a while now. He was not in any of the Diamond League meets at Doha and Paris, and was not at the Ostrava Golden Spike meet today as well.

Arshad will be departing soon for England, where he will train further for a month, Pakistani media reported. The Pakistani javelin thrower said he is currently focusing on the World Athletics Championships, scheduled to be held in September this year.

“My focus is on the World Athletics Championships and I am working hard for that,” said Nadeem.

“It is very hot in Lahore. I am going to England soon and will be training there for a month,” he added.

Neeraj Chopra at Ostrava Golden Spike LIVE: As Neeraj Chopra wraps up another title...

Shivani Naik wants to know: Are Neeraj Chopra's best throws always in the 1st, 2nd or 3rd go?  Except for Asian Games, where Jena amped it up, and Chopra had to respond, not sure he's needed to retort deep into 5th, 6th attempt. But open to being corrected.

Vinayakk Mohanarangan responds: I think Eugene Worlds was with one of the later throws. I think post Tokyo it was a pattern, I remember asking about it once, and then in Eugene he turned it around. His response was that he didnt feel that way.

81.01m from Neeraj for his 5th attempt, it is not an improvement but he continues to lead the way with the last attempts to come.

82.17 for Neeraj with his 4th attempt, a little pout at the end of it. Not an improvement for Neeraj but the Indian stays in the lead. A nice thing to note about the visuals of this event is how Jan Zelezny is casually standing next to the throwing area in his business casual attire. The meeting director for javelin of course at his home event.

Neeraj Chopra at Ostrava Golden Spike LIVE: Neeraj throws 83.45m

After fouling his first attempt of the evening, Neeraj Chopra nails his second attempt and crosses the 80m mark easily. He throws 83.45m to be third on the night after two throws behind Douw Smit, who has taken the lead with a personal best of 84.12.

Anderson Peters is second, ahead of Neeraj, with his first attempt of 83.63m.

Neeraj doesn't look too pleased with that throw. His coach, Jan Zelezny, is at close quarters to keep a tab on him. Javelin world record holder Zelezny is also the tournamernt director, so maybe there won't be too many tips being handed out to Neeraj here.

HOLA

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the Ostrava Golden Spike event, where Neeraj Chopra will be competing shortly. Neeraj's coach Jan Zelezny, who is a javelin throw legend with the world record throw against his name, is the tournament director at the event.

Neeraj will be competing against Thomas Rohler, who won the Olympic gold at Rio 2016.

It has been a smooth start to the season for Javelin Throw world champion Neeraj Chopra, who won the Paris Diamond League three days back. Neeraj threw 88.16m to defeat his close competitor, Julian Weber of Germany, after losing to him at the Doha Diamond League.

Neeraj has featured in two tournaments this season, the Doha Diamond League and the Paris Diamond League, and will be participating in his third competition tomorrow at the Golden Spike in Ostrava, Czech Republic. It is a gold-level tournament on the World Athletics Continental tour.

After an injury-marred season in 2024, where he failed to defend his Olympic title losing to Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem, Neeraj started training under Czech legend Jan Zelenzy and parted ways with his long-term coach Dr Klaus Bartonietz. Neeraj also put an end to the questions of 90m as he crossed the much hyped mark at the Doha Diamond League, throwing 90.23m and creating a new national record.
