Indian women archers lose bronze Play-off to Indonesia

Indian women’s compound team lost their bronze playoff to Indonesia in the Archery World Cup Stage 3 at the Konyaalti Beach Park in Antalya on Saturday.

The Indian trio of Lily Chanu Paonam, Divya Dhayal and Purvasha Shende went down the Dellie Threesyadinda, Triya Resky Andriyani and Rona Siska Sari 222-226.

Indian men’s team had earlier failed to make the cut for Rio in the Final Olympic Qualification on June 16, while none of the archers remained in the medal hunt in individual section.

India’s medal hope will rest on Atanu Das and Deepika Kumari who take on the top seed Koreans in the recurve mixed pair final on Sunday.

India will remain contention for a second medal when the women’s recurve team of Deepika, Laxmirani Majhi and Bombayla Devi Laishram face Italians in the bronze medal playoff.
