The ominous moth, immortalised in ‘The Silence Of The Lambs’, might have just registered itself in sports history when it rested on Cristiano Ronaldo’s tear-soaked eyes.
Cristiano Ronaldo left many shocked when he left the field on a stretcher after a leg injury, just minutes into the UEFA Euro 2016 final. But a ruthless ‘French’ moth wanted to make things bitter for CR7. As it stood out, ‘A kiss from a moth is a kiss of goodluck.’ At least it turned out be so, when Ronaldo changed his role from a striker to a manager’s role.
Portugal etched their name on the Euro 2016 trophy in front of a French audience at Stade de France beating the home team 1-0 in extra time.
Fans on social media saw the funny side of the squeaky moths on the field and came up with innumerable memes and posts.
They even registered twitter accounts in the name of ‘Cristiano’s Moth’ which only grew in number as the hashtag kept trending.
Here are just some of the funny accounts and memes captured on the social media.
