India vs USA: How it happened

2150 hrs IST: Full-time: India U-17 fought till the last second to go down 0-3 against visitors USA at Jawaharlal Nehru stadium in New Delhi. India did create many chances and impressed with the skills but were still not good enough to prevent the visitors from scoring. USA was clearly the better of the two teams, dominating throughout the game in front of enthusiastic crowd giving full support to India despite their loss.

2139 hrs IST: GOAL! And it’s all over for India. Andrew Carleton gives the visitors 3-0 lead after India hit the crossbar. The thing with USA is that they bounce back almost immediately after a threat.

2120 hrs IST: Komal Thotal has created multiple chances for India and has impressed the home side with his skills. India U-17 refuse to give up, despite being 2-0 down in the game half-way through the second half of the game.

2106 hrs IST: GOAL! There were 11 indian players inside the penalty area, yet Chris Durkin scores with just 7 minutes into the second half.

2102 hrs IST: Second half begins. As if the visitors were not already dominating, they come in with a new energy. Two minutes into the second half and two attacks from USA. But Dheeraj pulls off a Neuer-like save to avoid giving USA a further lead.

2050 hrs IST: HALF-TIME: India are 0-1 down against a dominant USA as the first half came to an end at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi. Despite dominating, only a penalty could give USA lead in the first half against debutants India. Future Werder Bremen player Josh Sargent gave USA 1-0 lead after Jitendra Singh tripped him. The kid to watch out for India has been Komal Thatal in the first half who impressed with him brilliant skills during the game, building up attack for India.

2025 hrs IST: GOAL! Josh Sargent successfulyy converts penalty after he was tripped by Jitendra Singh. Sargent is one of the key USA players and is set to join Germany’s Werder Bremen in January next year. India now need to maintain calm and not let the visitors extend the lead.

2025 hrs IST: India awarded the first corner of the match against USA after Aniket Jadhav tries to cut into from the right. The hosts, however, are unable to score. USA respond by immediate attack, getting a corner but falls straight in Dheeraj’s lap.

2020 hrs IST: Rahul saves India, kicks the ball out. US gets corner but fail to convert. As expected, the visitors remain the dominating team at the Jawaharlal Nehru ground

2013 hrs IST: Dheeraj is probably going to be the buisiest player on the field today. Another close save as USA build up their attack.
