Australia’s Steve Smith will be lending his voice to the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) after joining the expert panel of commentators for IPL 2023.

Smith will be making his broadcast debut with Star Sports, adding his invaluable insights to the roster of panelists.

Smith, who is known as one of the best batsmen of his generation across all formats, has scored over 10,000 runs in international cricket, including 42 centuries, and has been a part of two successful World Cup campaigns with Australia in year 2015 and 2021.

He is the only overseas player to have captained the legendary MS Dhoni in an IPL campaign where they played the final for Rising Pune Supergiant in 2017.

He is also known for his astute cricketing brain and his ability to read the game.

His recent video announcing that he had joined an exceptional and passionate team in India for IPL 2023 went viral and drew a lot of attention from fans.

“I think I read the game pretty well so hopefully there will be some good insights for all the people watching IPL out there. I’m certainly excited about joining the Star Sports Team and I’m looking forward to this new experience,” Smith was quoted as saying by Star Sports.
