Warner finally departs. He would be gutted by the innings he played today and his team's performance. It has not been a 199 wicket as the Royals have scored nor has been a wicket where the way the Capitals have capitulated with the bat so far. They have been outplayed today. Seems like it is going to be a long IPL season for Warner and his men. After 19.2 overs Delhi Capitals 140/9

It has not been a day for Warner. The skipper tried to get the boundaries in floury, however, could not. He now holds the orange cap. However, how much satisfaction will he get out of it? It has been another poor performance from Delhi Capitals today. They are now on their way to losing three in three. Apart from Mukesh, there has been nothing to smile about for the Capitals. Substitute bowler Murgan Ashwin is brought into attack here. Warner gives a simple catch to Jaiswal. However, the youngster drifted away from the 30-yard circle before the ball was bowled making six fielders outside the ring. The ball was given a no-ball. Warner was called back who went back to the dugout was called back to bat again. After 17 overs Delhi Capitals 129/6

R Ashwin picks up Rovman Powell. Another one bites the dust for the Capital. Powell chips one in the air and times it too well to the fielder at long-on. Warner is still battling at the other end however, has had no support whatsoever throughout the innings from other batters. This has been another sorry tale for the Capitals. Yuzvendra Chahal picks up Axar Patel. The left-hander goes down the track to clear the fence. However, Chahal sees him coming down the track and slows down the delivery. The batter gets beaten in the flight and guile of the delivery and gets stumped. Meanwhile, Warner goes past his 50. After 15 overs Delhi Capitals 111/5

Trent Boult picks up his third wicket as Lalit Yadav departs. Yadav trying to keep the momentum going perishes. The intent was right from the batter however, the execution was not. Axar Patel walks into the middle. He has been in very good form in recent times with the bat and needs to play a big innings today.  After 13.1 overs Delhi Capitals 101/4 

Samson after using all his spinners has now gone back to Holder. Holder bowled a few slower deliveries and mixed up with a Yorker now and then. The Delhi Capitals seem to believe again. The running between the wickets has gotten quicker from Warner and Lalit. The body language of Rajasthan Royals slowly seems to change. The hosts need to pick a wicket here or we might have a close game here. After 12 overs Delhi Capitals 93/3 

David Warner and Yadav are building a nice little partnership here. However, the run rate required has gone over 13's now. They have the luxury of power hitters to come next but how long does this partnership just worry about not losing another wicket before launching? The Royals spinners too are letting the game drift away a bit here trying to bowl quiet overs rather than picking wickets. The momentum seems to slowly start to swing towards the Capitals here. Tushar Bhaduri: Notwithstanding his triple century in the Ranji Trophy last season, Prithvi Shaw these days gives the impression that he is in the middle for a good time, and not necessarily a long time.

He has been backed by the Delhi Capitals establishment for some time now, and it’s well known that he is a particular favourite of head coach Ricky Ponting. Scores of 12, 7 and 0 doesn’t quite vindicate the trust reposed in him. He has been dismissed by pace – both full and short – as well as swing, which points to holes in his game against top-class bowling.

Shaw has already fallen quite a few notches down the pecking order as far as selection to the national team is concerned. He was only an Impact Player for Capitals in Saturday’s game, coming into the match to open the innings during the chase, but made the wrong sort of impact by getting out in the first over itself. If he doesn’t achieve a turnaround quickly, not only will Delhi become an irrelevance in the title race, but Shaw’s place in the side will be brought into serious question, with a young opener in Yash Dhull an option in the squad. Sanju Samson releasing the surface gripping has brought in another spinner into the side. This is a clever move from Samson on a surface which continued to get slower as the game went on. In hindsight, it has been a poor call at the toss by Warner to bowl first as it has given the Royals best of conditions to bat and now bowl. With three defeats Delhi has lost complete momentum in the tournament so far. It is going to be a long way coming back into the tournament again. After 8 overs Delhi Capitals 48/3 

R Ashwin picks up Rossouw as DC loses the third one in Powerplay. Another one bites the dust for the Capitals. This has been a poor batting effort once again by the Capitals chasing a massive score. David Warner once again is forced to play the role of both and anchor and aggressor all at once. Seems like the capitals are going to make a hattrick of defeats.  After 6 overs Delhi Capitals 38/3 

The ball is making an excellent sound when it is coming off Warner's bat. He is looking determined to make a big one and take his side home. He has done this for his old franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad plenty of times before. However, this is a man whose powers have been going down in recent times. Can he reinvent himself tonight and show us the Warner he once was. If he can we are in for some fun folks. After 5 overs Delhi Capitals 32/2 

This is the thrid time in three games that the responsibility of run-scoring has entirely fallen on the capitals' skipper. Prithvi Shaw has failed again. Manish Pandey playing his first game had no answers for the swing of Boult. Irrespective of the result the Capitals have plenty of things that needs to be sorted out after this game. After 3.4 overs Delhi Capitals 19/2 

Tushar Bhaduri: Sometimes, a fast start prompts the batting side to aim a bit too high, with the inherent risk of ending up with a lot fewer than what they would have got otherwise. But sometimes, a conservative approach can also backfire.

The blitzkrieg by Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler at the start of the innings had taken Rajasthan Royals to three figures inside 10 overs, but the score had reached only 130/3 after 15 overs.

The loss of Jaiswal, Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag coincided with the becalming of Buttler, as Delhi Capitals bowlers found their bearings.

It took a surge in the last five overs that yielded 69 runs, but Buttler, Shemron Hetmyer that took Royals close to the 200-run mark, but at the halfway stage, they would have thought they left a few out there.After 2 overs Delhi Capitals 5/2    

Exceptional first over from Trent Boult he picked up two wickets in that opening over with a peach of a delivers. The over has been the complete opposite of what the Capitals bowlers have done with the new ball. This is pure class from Boult shows why he is regarded as one of the best seamers going around irrespective of the conditions. After 1.3 overs Delhi Capitals 1/2

Cut my finger in the last game but a few stitches and good to play. (On Orange Cap) Nice to wear, but just glad to get a decent start to the season. This is a good wicket, so we need to bowl well to defend this. The powerplay was fantastic, but the bounce got lower as the ball got older and we lost some momentum in the middle-overs by losing a couple of wickets, hope Ashwin and Chahal could do the same for us. (On getting spin on early) It is a possibility, we’ve built a squad where everyone is comfortable bowling anywhere, so that’s an option but obviously Trent Boult has been bowling really well as well.

Rajasthan Royals courtesy of openers Jaiswal, Buttler and the finishing touch from Hetmeyar has reached a good score on a flat deck. Khaleel for the Capitals had an afternoon to forget. Nortje despite being the leader of the attack failed to make an impact in the game. Coming on the back of a lose this is an excellent response from the Royals' batting. On the other hand, the Capitals still to register a win in the tournament once again struggled to put up a show collectively. Apart from individuals doing well the Capitals with both bat and ball have struggled collectively in the tournament the same has happened again here in the first innings. Despite Mukesh and Kuldeep doing well the rest of the bowling struggled.

Mukesh Kumar picks up Jos Buttler. In a bizarre incident, Butler hit the ball back to Mukesh. No one seems to be interested in it as everyone thought the ball bumped before reaching the bowler However Mukesh thought it was out and the decision was sent upstairs. The full ball was hit straight back to Mukesh who takes a perfect catch as shown on replays and Buttler has to go back. Nevertheless excellent innings from Buttler.  After 18.3 over Rajasthan Royals 175/4

Buttler and Hetmeyar who are brutal finishers are looking to smash the bowlers now. They are looking to pounce on anything which is loose. Delhi Capitals need to be careful here as the momentum is swinging back towards the Royals again after those quiet middle overs. Warner would be looking at Nortje to show his experience in these death overs. After 18 over Rajasthan Royals 168/3 

Jos Buttler despite the wickets falling from the other end is showing his class here. He is keeping cool and smashing the loose balls. With himself and Shimron Hetmeyar in the middle Capitals need to be careful. As there may be plenty of fireworks in the end which may undo the good in the middle-overs by Warner's men. Rovman Powell takes the ball and oversteps. It is a free hit to Hetmeyar which he could not make the most off. After 16.1 over Rajasthan Royals 145/3 

Delhi Capitals have pulled back this game nicely. When Jaiswal was batting 200 was looking very gettable. However, three quick wickets in the last few overs have completely derailed the innings and now 180 seems to be a good score. Kuldeep after going for 19 runs has bowled splendidly giving 11 runs in the next three overs. Warner has been spot-on with his bowling changes as the innings went on. After 15.1 over Rajasthan Royals 131/3 

Riyan Parag fails again for Rajasthan Royals. David Warner has gone to Rovman Powell which has worked. He probably went to him to get through the overs of Khaleel Ahmed who gave away 31 runs from his two overs. However, Powell got a wicket which is a bonus. it will be interesting to see how Buttler will react to all these which is happening at the other end. After 14 over Rajasthan Royals 126/3     

An excellent half-century from Buttler he played the second hand to Jaiswal while he was there laying a solid foundation. However, since Kuldeep Yadav's wicket with Sanju Samson seems like the Capitals have pulled things a bit from Rajasthan Royals. Buttler too seems to have slowed down a bit. It will be interesting to see how Riyan Parag and Buttler will place this inning from here on. After 13 over Rajasthan Royals 122/2     

Kuldeep Yadav picks up Sanju Samson. The skipper trying to hit one out of the ground could not middle the ball and was caught by the long-on fielder Nortje. They have now lost two wickets in quick time and the Capitals have gotten themselves back into this game. Riyan Parag walks into the middle an excellent opportunity for the youngster in home conditions to show what he can do. After 10 over Rajasthan Royals 103/2     

Yashasvi Jaiswal departs for 60. Mukesh Kumar breaks the partnership with a well-directed bouncer. Much needed a breakthrough for the Capitals finally. It has been a hard toil for the bowlers so far in the afternoon heat. However, Mukesh looked good on this surface with his slower balls and bowling an odd bouncer every now and then. Sanju Samson walks into the middle and is an excellent opportunity for the skipper to play a good knock. After 8.4 over Rajasthan Royals 98/1     

Tushar Bhaduri: Khaleel Ahmed has certainly seen better days. He was once considered good enough to play for the country, representing India in 11 ODIs and 14 T20Is. But he hasn’t done so since November 2019.

His fielding in Delhi Capitals’ opener against Lucknow Supergiants was an embarrassment, highlighted (?) by the dropping of a dolly at short third man to give eventual match winner Kyle Mayers a second chance. Khaleel’s bowling too is not treated with much respect either these days.

A youngster like Yashasvi Jaiswal – talented no doubt, but still some way from earning India colours – doesn’t think twice before taking the 25-year-old left-arm seamer on. Six of Khaleel’s first seven deliveries went to the boundary, in almost every possible direction at the Barsapara Stadium.

The first delivery of the Rajasthan Royals innings was a short one and was pulled over midwicket, and the second crossed the line thanks to a misfield by Mukesh Kumar at third man. It was followed by a cover drive, an aerial hit down the ground and one over the wide slip.

Skipper David Warner took Khaleel off and brought him back for the fourth over. No change of fortunes though as the first ball, giving width to the left-hander, was smashed through the offside. The bowler’s mood wouldn’t have improved when Anrich Nortje dropped a chance – albeit a tough one, requiring him to run backwards with the ball always going away from him – and would have wondered about the audacity of the youngsters coming through. After 8.2 over Rajasthan Royals 98/0          

50 of just 26 balls for Jaiswal. This has been a magnificent knock by the young left-hander. He has outscored Jos Butler and dominated the partnership. How often can that be said? Warner has now turned to Kuldeep however, Jaiswal seems to continue on his merry way. Rajasthan dug out would be extremely happy with the way things have gone so far for them. After 7 over Rajasthan Royals 79/0 

Jaiswal and Buttler have stamped their authority in the first six overs here. Delhi Capitals had no answers to their attacking intent. The bowlers have been all over the place. After losing the first two games they started this game poorly again. The onus is on Kuldeep Yadav now whenever he comes into the attack to pick a few quick wickets and turn this game. After 6.4 over Rajasthan Royals 74/0 

Jaiswal is smashing the bowlers all over the park. David Warner has brought Axar Patel to slow down things a bit however, it backfired. The left-hander took a liking to the match-up and smashed him for 13 runs. Axar despite bowling well is scratching his head at what he has done wrong to go for those boundaries. The Delhi Capitals need a wicket immediately as this partnership is looking like a match-winning at the moment. After 5.2 over Rajasthan Royals 63/0 

Jaiswal has taken a liking to the medium pace and left-arm angle of Khaleel here. He has not found his rhythm whatsoever in the game. He has sprayed the ball all over the pitch. This is the second game in a row where the Delhi Capitals new ball bowlers struggled to make an impact in the Powerplay. Meanwhile, a wide decision taken on-field was reviewed by Warner which was overturned upstairs as it was seen the ball brushed Jaiswal. This is brutal batting from the RR opening duo. After 4 over Rajasthan Royals 50/0 

David Warner has now gone to Mukesh Kumar after the two expensive overs. The skipper is scratching his head. the bowlers have not hit the lines and lengths in the game yet and have been brutally punished by Butler and Jaiswal. This is looking like one of the most formidable opening combinations in the tournament. Warner might be looking at his spin options and give them a go and see if they can tighten things a bit. After 3 over Rajasthan Royals 39/0

Anrich Nortje taking the new ball from the other end bowled with pace. However, the pitch looks flat, Jos Butler punched one of the back foot through covers for a beautiful boundary assuring there is absolutely nothing on this surface and it is going to be a high-scoring game. Two overs into the game Delhi Capitals are already on the back foot. After 2 over Rajasthan Royals 32/0

What a way to start the game from Jaiswal. He scored five boundaries in the first over and helped his side to get off to a flier. Khaleel Ahmed trying to get a hint of movement from the surface pitched the ball up and hardly got anything from the surface. Jaiswal just took the advantage of the conditions and battered the left-arm seamer in the first over making it the most expensive opening over of the season. After 1 over Rajasthan Royals 20/0

The pitch looks good for batting the dimensions of the ground are small. Khaleel Ahmed has the new ball in hand for Delhi both teams are in need of a win this is going to be a cracker of a contest here in the east.

I think it looks a good wicket to bat on. Should be a high scoring game. Let's see how we turn up. With the impact rule, we can balance the side both ways. We can kind of manage. Jos is alright. We have a couple of changes. I am a bit confused. I will have to see the sheet as it keeps changing thanks to the impact rule.

Don't know what's gonna happen. Hopefully we will start well. Marsh has gone home to get married. All the best to him. There is one forced change with Powell coming in for Marsh. There are changes. Lalit comes in as well for Sarfraz. Manish Pandey comes in.

Jos Butler fit to start for Rajasthan Royals

"He (Marsh) is not going to be available for the next few games. He is getting married," Delhi Capitals bowling coach James Hopes had told the media ahead of the Capitals clash with Royals in Guwahati. With Marsh out, DC may include Rovman Powell in the starting XI for the must-win clash.

The pitch that's been used today was used for the India-South Africa T20I where 450+ runs were scored. It's the centre pitch, 65m on both sides and longer straight boundaries. The pitch is brilliant, it might not be as good a wicket to bat on though, it's darker which means a bit more moisture, there are indentations and ridges which run parallel to each other because of the process of scarification, which has ensured a few marks. It's still a very good pitch to bat, but it might help the spinners to get some grip. batting first might be the way to go about today

It was a quick turnaround, but felt quite good to be back and playing the game. We took our flight overnight so the time difference was ideal because I got to sleep on the flight. Unfortunate about how the last game panned out but was nice to get out there and be with the team again. The talk has been about doing the basics right and doing it for long periods, trying to partnerships up front with the bat, trying to build partnerships with the ball as well. Obviously the more wickets we can take the better, but also trying to restrict the opposition as much as we can and get some momentum going. (On powerplay bowling) Definitely important, we can build some sort of pressure, the more wickets we can get. It is a big focus for us.

Rajasthan Royals will miss their key batter Jos Butler for their clash against the Delhi Capitals due to a finger injury. Joe Root is likely to make his IPL debut in place of his fellow England teammate. Butler will be a huge miss for the side but Root in the past playing for England has shown he is a more than capable batter in T20 cricket.

The Indian bowling talent in Delhi Capitals looks inadequate if one compares it with the other IPL teams. Delhi has spent Rs 5.5 crore on Bengal pacer Mukesh Kumar, who has made his marks in domestic cricket with his exploits in the red ball. In the two games he has played, Kumar has looked a misfit in this format. The Bengal pacer might get replaced by left-arm seamer Chetan Sakariya.

Delhi Capitals skipper needs to score 31 runs against the Rajasthan Royals to become the 10th player to have completed 500 runs against the Royals. His former opening partner at the Sunrisers Hyderabad Shikhar Dhawan leads the chart with 662 runs. Warner would be hoping to not only surpass the landmark but also play match-winning innings for his side. 

Just the one game at the ACA Stadium in Barsapara. It looked pretty decent for batting with Punjab posting 197 and Rajasthan almost chasing it down with 192 in the second innings.

All the teams have been a little bit different on how they are doing it. Unfortunately we do not have the all-round depth to have seven-eight bowling options in our team. So we can either use the Impact Player to strengthen our batting but our bowling at the moment, if we bring in six genuine bowling options without Mitch Marsh here, it will weaken our batting significantly. Even in bowl-first, bat-first scenarios. So tomorrow you might see something a bit different from us.

Each player's ability to face certain sections of the game is different. Hetmyer has a very specific role and he's very happy to do that role as he did for us last season. He is one of the best players going around in that position in all of T20 cricket in the world and we are very excited to see that he almost won us the game from a very difficult position for us along with Dhruv Jurel. There are times when people might walk in early if that situation is one that we plan for him. And we'll keep really believing in our strategy.
