Nuwan Pradeep likely to miss 2nd Test against India with injury

Rangana Herath also did not practice on Wednesday but Mathews brushed aside any doubts and said the leg-spinner is fit to play.

Sri Lankan medium-pacer Nuwan Pradeep is likely to miss the second cricket Test against India, starting in Colombo on Thursday as he is yet to fully recover from a hamstring injury.

Pradeep was rendered doubtful on Wednesday and in all likelyhood fit-again Dushmantha Chameera will replace him in the playing eleven.

“Nuwan Pradeep is struggling a little bit, so we have to wait and see. Most likely he will be out of this Test,” Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews told reporters in the pre-match conference.

“But Dushmantha is back now. Unfortunately, he got injured when he played his first game against Pakistan. He has got a lot of pace and bowls 145-plus consistently. He is a very exciting prospect and I am extremely happy to have him back fit,” Mathews said.
