Former India captain MS Dhoni has been known for his quick witted responses. One of them would come during an Indian Premier League game in 2017 when Kevin Pietersen asked of Rising Pune Supergiants’ Manoj Tiwari on the ear mic to tell Dhoni that he was a better golfer than the World Cup-winning captain.

To which, Dhoni replied by, “He’s still my first Test wicket.” It was a reference to Dhoni inducing the on field umpire raising his finger after the then India skipper thudded an in swinger onto Pietersen’s pads. The decision would however be referred from the English batter and overruled.

On Tuesday, Pietersen would reiterate the same via a tweet, “I’m actively seeking the clip from the Test match at Lords to put to bed all these claims that I WAS Dhoni’s first Test Wicket. I hate to break it to you – I WASN’T!”

Pietersen is currently part of the Star Sports broadcast team for IPL 2023, and was present at the Chepauk Stadium for Chennai Super Kings’ final home game of the season.

Standing alongside him post match, Sunil Gavaskar would run towards Dhoni, who was leading CSK’s lap of honour following the game against Kolkata Knight Riders.

“When I got to know about Chennai Super Kings and MS Dhoni are going to take a lap of honour at Chepauk, I decided to create a special memory,” Gavaskar told Star Sports.

“That’s why I ran towards MSD to take his autograph. It was his last home game at Chepauk. Of course, he will get a chance to play here if CSK qualifies for the playoffs. But I decided to make that moment special,” he added.
