A new champion is guaranteed when Royal Challengers Bengaluru take on Punjab Kings in the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday. The teams are hardly strangers to each other, having already faced 3 times this season with RCB winning 2, including the Qualifier 1 and PBKS winning one.

RCB, led by Rajat Patidar and PBKS led by Shreyas Iyer are poles apart in experience as captains in the finals. Iyer has guided three teams to the IPL final previously, winning once with the Kolkata Knight Riders last year. Meanwhile, Patidar was named captain in the beginning of this season. But both have their strengths as leaders which has lead them to this blockbuster clash.

The pitch is expected to be a mixed soil one which aids batting. The last time this pitch was used was when Punjab took on Gujarat Titans back in March and it was a run fest. The bowlers will not have a lot of joy in this surface but with the huge boundaries in the Narendra Modi Stadium, the batters will also have to be careful on how they hit the ball.

In the last match played here on Sunday which was the Eliminator between PBKS and MI, the rain delayed the match by 2 hrs which led to the teams staring proceedings at 9.30 PM instead of 7.30 PM. The match ultimately didn’t lose any overs and ended around 1.30 AM on Sunday. There’s a slight chance of rain on the day of the final as well with Accuweather predicting a spell of showers during the afternoon. However, it does not carry over to the time of the match with the evening expected to be partly cloudy.
