For the fourth successive Sunday, there is a India vs Pakistan clash in cricket. This time around, after the rancor and hostility of the men’s teams from both sides for three weeks at the Asia Cup, the women’s team from the neighbouring countries are coming face to face in Colombo in a group stage clash.

When the Indian women’s team takes on the Pakistan women’s team there is a heavy possibility of rain interrupting the game. But there is also a heavy possibility that once again, just like witnessed in the men’s games, there will be no handshake between the India and Pakistan women’s teams.

India vs Pakistan Women’s World Cup 2025 Pitch and Weather Report

Whether the players find themselves in a situation to shake hands on Sunday itself is under some cloud — literally! Australia’s match against Sri Lanka on Saturday was washed out without a ball being bowled, and there is a significant amount of rain predicted till Sunday evening, with thunderstorms expected earlier in the day.

India start the game as overwhelming favourites: As Vinayakk Mohanarangan noted in his preview, “India have never lost in 11 previous ODI meetings. The closest margin of victory for India was when they prevailed by six wickets with 24 balls remaining at the 2013 World Cup in Cuttack while chasing, and by 80 runs after batting first in a match back in December 2006.”

India vs Pakistan, Women's World Cup Live Cricket Score: INDIA 103/2 after 24 overs

Just one single in Sidra's over and now Nashra's over goes for just two singles.

Nashra continues to operate mostly below 70kph and really slowing things up, forcing Harman to adopt a cautious approach. A change of bat is on the cards for the Indian captain and some hydration too.

India vs Pakistan, Women's World Cup Live Cricket Score: INDIA 101/2 after 23 overs

For all the need to try and spend time in the middle to regain form, it has not helped India’s cause that Harmanpreet Kaur has not tried to use her feet or the sweep shot to the spinners. Ideally, with her ability to loft the ball in the air she should have picked up the scoring rate a bit more than where it stands now.

India vs Pakistan, Women's World Cup Live Cricket Score: INDIA 100/2 after 22 overs

NASHRA REALLY SLOWS THINGS UP. First four balls in that over below 70kph. Harleen plays the late cut for one of those for four. Off the fifth ball, Nashra fires one in and Harmanpreet hits it past mid on for four. Good over for India.

Off the last ball, some glares exchanged. Nashra shapes up to throw the ball back to the striker's end, Harmanpreet stares back then breaks into a wry smile as the Pakistan spinner looks on too.

India vs Pakistan, Women's World Cup Live Cricket Score: INDIA 89/2 after 21 overs

There is a good case to be made that Jemimah Rodrigues is the 2nd best batter in this Indian ODI side and she doesn't get to bat for the first 25 overs or so pretty much most days. Feel like she is getting heavily underutilised.

India vs Pakistan, Women's World Cup Live Cricket Score: INDIA 89/2 after 21 overs

Just 32 runs in the 11-20 overs block for India, and they lost the set batter in Pratika Rawal for 31. The Pakistan spinners are rushing through the overs, and one of Harleen Deol or Harmanpreet Kaur must try something different to break the shackles. The dot balls continue to pile up.

India vs Pakistan, Women's World Cup Live Cricket Score: INDIA 89/2 after 21 overs

Three singles from the 21st over bowled by Sadia. Will either of these batters try to up the ante now or wait for another few silent overs to settle in?

16:29 (IST) 5 Oct 2025
India vs Pakistan, Women's World Cup Live Cricket Score: INDIA 86/2 after 20 overs

In between all the dot balls, Harleen Deol plays another lofted shot, this time over the off side off Nashra for four. When she has these shots in her arsenal, you'd have to wonder why she is so cautious otherwise.

32/1 in the last 10 overs after the powerplay was over. You'd have to say this is not again good enough from India's batters.

"India should try to get things going with singles," Mithali Raj says at the start of the 21st over.

India vs Pakistan, Women's World Cup Live Cricket Score: INDIA 78/2 after 19 overs

This is a good test for India as they gear up for tougher challenges in the future. The Pakistan spinners are bowling on a string, hardly anything that has been overpitched or bowled short to allow the batters to free their arms. It hasn’t helped, neither batter has brought out the sweep shot yet, either the flat or the paddle. India need to get a move on.

India vs Pakistan, Women's World Cup Live Cricket Score: INDIA 78/2 after 19 overs

Just like in the previous match in Guwahati, India's dot ball percentage at this moment is 68% after 18 overs.

Just one single in that Sadia over as well.

16:24 (IST) 5 Oct 2025
India vs Pakistan, Women's World Cup Live Cricket Score: INDIA 77/2 after 18 overs

DOT BALLS PILING UP ONCE MORE. Nashra with a good over to start off her spell. Harleen Deol comes down the track a couple of times in that over, but the intent stops with that action, she ends up prodding the ball straight to the fielder with no clear purpose or power. She is batting on 16 off 30 balls.

Also a bit more on that Pratika Rawal dismissal. Sadia's previous delivery before the quicker arm ball was at ~75 kph, an increase of nearly 10kph to the next ball.

16:19 (IST) 5 Oct 2025
India vs Pakistan, Women's World Cup Live Cricket Score: INDIA 75/2 after 17 overs

Harmanpreet Kaur really needs to play a big one today, you feel. This sort of situation is tailor-made for her, and India don't have the depth in batting too. Her wicket here and Pakistan will get a firm footing in this match, for sure.

A close one in that Sadia over, again an arm-ball from round the wicket by the left-arm spinner. Harmanpreet got her bat down in time unlike Pratika.

16:17 (IST) 5 Oct 2025
India vs Pakistan, Women's World Cup Live Cricket Score: INDIA 72/2 after 16 overs

Harmanpreet, who was seen practising without her pads on and with a open stance before the opener in Guwahati, is using that stance right away against Rameen Shamim, a superb cut shot for four.

India vs Pakistan, Women's World Cup Live Cricket Score: INDIA 67/2 after 15 overs

For a second match in a row, Pratika Rawal gets off to a start before falling just as her innings was building. Due credit to Sadia Iqbal also there, who fired in an 84.1 kph arm ball which got a bit big on the batter. The onus now on Harmanpreet and others to lift the scoring rate in this innings.

PRATIKA GONE! FOUR AND OUT! The dot balls were starting to pile up for Pratika, three to start this over. She does manage to hit a four off the fourth ball, rocking on the backfoot to punch one past point. But Sadia quickens up the pace, with a ~85kph ball, Pratika goes on the backfoot again, gets beaten for pace and is bowled.

Pratika out in the 30s once more.

Harleen Deol goes down the track immediately after the drinks break, takes on the favourable matchup against the offspinner. Clears the fence. But Harleen Deol plays out five dot balls after the six. Eventually just a 6-run over despite a first-ball six. Oh well.

India vs Pakistan, Women's World Cup Live Cricket Score: INDIA 57/1 after 13 overs

India’s run rate has gone down from 6.60 after five overs to under five runs an over now. There seems to be no solution to this issue that persists for both Pratika Rawal and Harleen Deol in finding a way to maintain the high scoring rate if Smriti Mandhana falls early. Just two singles in the 13th over too now.

MAIDEN OVER BY FATIMA: The captain leading from the front here. More ordinary calling between the wickets as Harleen hits one to point, where there is a fumble but no run taken. Last ball of the over, inside edge but the umpires say the ball didn't carry to the keeper. Shamim from the other end with her offspin.

After that patient start, India would have hoped Smriti can continue beyond the powerplay and make it a big score but as Shankar said, she never really looked settled in.

54/1 from the powerplay is a good start for India still, but Pratika and Harleen must do better than their effort in Guwahati.

India vs Pakistan, Women's World Cup Live Cricket Score: INDIA 54/1 after 10 overs

FROM VINAYAKK'S ANALYSIS OF INDIA VS SRI LANKA:

During India's batting innings, an expected problem resurfaced again. As good as Smriti Mandhana's ODI form has been over the last two years, there is always a nagging concern: what happens when she gets out early and cheaply? In their brief time together as an opening pair, Mandhana and Pratika Rawal have more often than not hit a good balance between their tempos. Rawal's more calculated approach has freed up Mandhana, but when the leftie superstar has been dismissed first, and Rawal gets together with Harleen Deol, the lull in run-scoring has been significant, even if not for the entirety of their partnership, at least for the first 7-8 overs.

Sample the match on Tuesday against Sri Lanka. When Mandhana got out, the score was 14/1 after 3.2 overs. While there is sound logic to not go gung-ho right away, both Rawal and Deol went into a shell soon after. The first 70 balls of their partnership yielded just 38 runs, a partnership strike rate of 54.28%. And these weren't tough conditions too, either. Sri Lanka were able to keep the two right-handers quiet just by bowling stump-to-stump and cutting the angles superbly inside the ring with their ground-fielding.

After the powerplay, around the 15-over mark, the dot-ball percentage in India's innings was a whopping 69%. There was an over where Rawal hit a full ball that was there to be driven as well as a short ball that was there to be cut, straight to the fielder at short cover. Due to the initial reluctance to play the lofted shots with field restrictions in place, the two batters struggled to find the gaps in the field and found fielders with the kind of accuracy archers and shooters would be proud of. The mere fact that Mandhana was out early is not a good enough excuse for the number of dot balls they played out.

India vs Pakistan, Women's World Cup Live Cricket Score: INDIA 48/1 after 9 overs

That is a huge wicket for Pakistan. Smriti Mandhana found no momentum in her innings today. Almost felt like she was batting on a different pitch to Pratika Rawal, who looked the more fluent of the two. A second consecutive low score in this tournament for the in-form Indian opener.

SMRITI GONE!!! Superb delivery from Fatima Sana, she had troubled Smriti Mandhana with a couple of good length deliveries earlier as well. This time it is perfect for a LBW as Smriti misses the ball. SM18 out cheaply again, India would hope she is saving it for bigger days. This ball landed on leg stump, just straightened a bit and Fatima lets out a big roar. Review lost as well, only think that could have saved Smriti was if the ball pitched outside leg.

India vs Pakistan, Women's World Cup Live Cricket Score: INDIA 48/0 after 8.4 overs

MIX UP: The running between the wickets continues to be nervy between Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal, the right-hander taps the ball to midwicket and takes off. But it was close in the end and she had to put in a dive. A brief exchange of quizzical looks between the batters.

15:41 (IST) 5 Oct 2025
India vs Pakistan, Women's World Cup Live Cricket Score: INDIA 45/0 after 8 overs

Mandhana gets a boundary after a while. A good yorker length delivery actually, but just outside offstump and the Indian opener is able to dig this away past the slip fielder and short third for a four.

A big LBW appeal next ball, but in real time, it looked to be clearly pitching outside leg from over the wicket angle. Fatima is confused whether to review it or not but she goes for it in the nick of time. Ball-tracking shows the ball is indeed pitching outside leg. Poor review.

Smriti finishes the over with an uppish square cut for four. Frustrating over all around for Diana Baig.

15:35 (IST) 5 Oct 2025
India vs Pakistan, Women's World Cup Live Cricket Score: INDIA 36/0 after 7 overs

Smriti Mandhana's strike rate has dipped to 50.0 at the moment as she is still searching for her timing. Lots of mishits and edges. Doesn't look like she has quite gotten the hang of the pitch yet. This is not like Smriti, especially in ODIs this year. The strike rate, she can make up. But just looks a bit off with her rhythm.

15:33 (IST) 5 Oct 2025
India vs Pakistan, Women's World Cup Live Cricket Score: INDIA 36/0 after 6.5 overs

CHANCE! Short ball from Faima Sana and Smriti Mandhana shaping up to pull, but this is a complete miscue! But the Indian opener gets away with it, as the ball goes over the short midwicket fielder. The ball got too close to pull for Smriti in the end on the angle, she cramped herself. She hasn't quite gotten going here but India will be glad she is still around. Pratika has been starved of strike in the last couple of overs though.

BREAK IN PLAY: Looks like Fatima has done some damage to her right ankle, the physio is out in the middle to have a look.

15:28 (IST) 5 Oct 2025
India vs Pakistan, Women's World Cup Live Cricket Score: INDIA 34/0 after 6 overs

Smriti taking her time here. Perhaps trying to make sure she sees off the early seam threat from Pakistan under cloudy, pacer-friendly conditions. There is defnite movement on offer. After three dot balls, Smriti seems keen to get off strike, there is a bit of a yes-no situation. These two have been involved in a few runouts already mind you!

Five dot balls, followed by a single off the last ball. Diana has recovered nicely after that expensive first over.

15:24 (IST) 5 Oct 2025
India vs Pakistan, Women's World Cup Live Cricket Score: INDIA 33/0 after 5 overs

Fatima Sana continues, three singles to start that over, good rotation there, as we were just mentioning.

Fatima moves around the field, brings in deep third to short third and puts the point fielder out to the deep.

Four singles in that over. One terrific delivery that shaped back into Smriti but the left-hander kept it out.

15:20 (IST) 5 Oct 2025
India vs Pakistan, Women's World Cup Live Cricket Score: INDIA 29/0 after 4 overs

This has become somewhat of the norm for Pratika and Smriti's partnership in the powerplays. Dots or boundaries. Five dot balls in the Diana Baig over, and then Smriti frees her arms superbly with a square drive past the fielders inside the ring. Cautious from Smriti so far but India still going at a good clip.

15:16 (IST) 5 Oct 2025
India vs Pakistan, Women's World Cup Live Cricket Score: INDIA 25/0 after 3 overs

Pratika Rawal is up and running early on in this innings. It would ease a lot of pressure on Smriti Mandhana if she can maintain a high scoring rate to her innings.

Another boundary for Pratika Rawal who is off to a flier here. This time, not the cleanest of strikes. Not much foot movement as she goes neither forward nor back to a good length ball. The outside edge flies past the solitary slip fielder. There were two slips in place last over for Diana but those boundaries seem to have helped Pratika in this over.

15:11 (IST) 5 Oct 2025
India vs Pakistan, Women's World Cup Live Cricket Score: INDIA 20/0 after 2 overs

Just one over of spin to start, Fatima Sana brings herself on for the third over. Pakistan need some control here so the captain would be hoping to provide that.

India vs Pakistan, Women's World Cup Live Cricket Score: INDIA 20/0 after 2 overs

A boundary for Smriti Mandhana in the first over as she put away a rank short ball from Sadia, despite Pakistan having a boundary rider in the deep, the ball raced to the fence.

Diana Baig from the other end, she starts off with three outswingers, shaping away from Pratika.

BUT WHAT FOLLOWS IS A HATTRICK: Pratika Rawal with three fours on the trot on the offside. Two idenctical backfoot punches past cover. Diana goes full off the last ball, the ball is square driven for four. SUPER START FROM THE INDIAN OPENERS.

India vs Pakistan, Women's World Cup Live Cricket Score: IND 8/0 after 1 over

Smriti Mandhana watches the first four balls from the spinner Sadia Iqbal before finding the boundary ropes with a pull!

There are five fielders on the on-side, but the length was too short. There is a fielder on the leg-side boundary, but Mandhana is too good in this area.

Good start for India.

Sadaf Shamas comes in for Omaima Sohail at the top of the batting order. Fatima had played down Omaima's lack of runs in the press conference: Obviously, when you have done well in the past, you have confidence in yourself and believe you can do it again. Muniba has performed well before — in the Ireland series and the qualifiers — she’s played very well. So judging someone by 1–2 matches is a little unfair. The way Muniba and Omaima have performed in the past, we still believe they will do well. You can’t judge anyone based on 1–2 matches. We’ll continue to support and motivate them as much as we can.

In July 2017, Pakistan pacer Kainat Imtiaz shared a photo standing alongside Indian legend Jhulan Goswami.

“In 2005, I saw the Indian team for the first time as the Asia Cup was held in Pakistan. I was the ball-picker during the tournament. I saw Jhulan Goswami, the fastest bowler of that time. I was so impressed that I chose cricket as a career, specifically fast bowling. It’s a proud moment for me, as after 12 years today in 2017, I am playing this ODI World Cup with one of my inspirations and getting more inspired.”

Today in Colombo, it is unlikely we will see anything like that.

India-W vs Pakistan-W Live Cricket Score: BOWLING COACH

Aavishkar Salvi on managing workload of pacers: Coming into the tournament, we have around 10 bowling options into the team. So obviously, it's a long tournament. It's a 32 - 33-day tournament where we might need the services of any of the bowlers, not just the fast bowlers, but the spinners as well. So as and when the rest is required, the recovery is required, they are into it. As and when the workloads are to be maintained, they are maintaining it. And they have not been doing it just now. They have been doing it for the last probably one - one and a half year now. So, they know their bodies well. We understand what they need to get their A game onto display. So, we are working towards it. Everybody is on the same page.

India-W vs Pakistan-W Live Cricket Score: YOUNG CAPTAIN

At 23, leadership responsibilities have been thrust early on Fatima, but the youngster said she is leaning on the experience of the senior teammates. "Actually, their support is very important to me because they always stand by me. They know I have room to make mistakes, and if I do, they help me. Seniors like Sidra (Amin), Aliyah (Riyaz), and even Diana (Baig) always make sure the team stays united. If someone makes a mistake, someone else immediately covers it up. The way our team is right now, and the unity we have – obviously as a young captain it’s challenging, but with their support, I don’t feel it much."

India-W vs Pakistan-W Live Cricket Score: PRE MATCH

Aavishkar Salvi: When you enter into a big tournament like a World Cup, the area of focus is only cricket. It's good to have the players into a good space. As you saw in the first game, after that first win, obviously, the team is on a momentum, on a roll, and they have been preparing well. I mean, wherever we are getting an opportunity to practice, they're practicing. Whenever there are opportunities to discuss about the game plans, they're discussing that. So, everybody is in a good space where they are working in an ecosystem where they are trying to get their A game onto the day, wherever it is.

India-W vs Pakistan-W Live Cricket Score: Defiant Fatima

Pakistan captain Fatima Sana on Saturday refused to read too much into the history of the rivalry. "Whatever records exist between India and Pakistan are meant to be broken," the allrounder said in the press conference. 'It’s not that Pakistan will never win against them. We believe in playing good cricket no matter who the opponent is. So we won’t think about past history; we’ll focus only on the day we play."

"Firstly if you see, we are like a family – we 20–22 people are like one family, so we are not at all focused on what’s going on outside. Obviously, we know what’s happening around us, but we try to stay focused only on the game, because the World Cup is an event every player waits for. We will try to keep our focus on the tournament and on what we have come here for."

"Of course, it’s a pressure match because of the big crowd. We know that when it’s India vs Pakistan, the whole world is watching, and the fans are watching too. So yes, there is pressure, but the main thing is how we handle it. We’ll try to focus on our game, execute our plans, and play the way we’ve prepared," she added.

India-W vs Pakistan-W Live Cricket Score: One-sided

In the history of women's ODIs, Pakistan have faced India 11 times over the years and have never managed to win. Four of those meetings have come at the ICC Women's World Cup. In 2017, India won by 95 runs in Derby despite scoring just 169 in 50 overs. In 2022, Pakistan had India in trouble at 114/6 before a 122-run stand from Pooja Vastrakar and Sneh Rana rescued Mithali Raj's side, who eventually won by 107 runs. In Bowral at the 2009 edition, Pakistan were bundled out for 57 in 29 overs, which India chased down with 10 wickets to spare in just 10 overs. In 2013, Pakistan's 192/7 was chased down with six wickets and four overs to spare, riding on Mithali's unbeaten 103. Those numbers are enough to illustrate how one-sided this rivalry has been in the past.

The forecast has gotten significantly better for today and it seems we should be, by all indications, getting a start on time and quite possibly a full match too.

QUESTION:

You mentioned focusing on playing to win, but your past records aren’t in your favour, and even your first match here against Bangladesh didn’t go well. Now facing this Indian lineup, who dominated against Sri Lanka — how do you see that challenge? And any special plans against Smriti Mandhana, considering her current form?

Fatima Sana:

Firstly, whatever records exist between India and Pakistan are meant to be broken. It’s not that Pakistan will never win against them. We believe in playing good cricket no matter who the opponent is. So we won’t think about past history; we’ll focus only on the day we play. And yes, when you play against big teams, you make proper plans for each player. We’ll try our best to execute those plans well and prepare effectively for every opponent.

India-W vs Pakistan-W Live Cricket Score: What happened in India's last game?

Despite some jittery batting in their ICC Women's World Cup opener against co-hosts Sri Lanka, the Indian women's team managed to win the match by 59 runs (via the DLS Method) earlier this week. It was Deepti Sharma and Amanjot Kaur who starred for India, while Sneh Rana too chipped in with a 15-ball 28.

Deepti had a run-a-ball 53 with the bat first and then took 3 for 54 to disrupt Sri Lanka's chase. Amanjot Kaur, meanwhile, scored 57 in 56 balls. She shared a 103-run seventh-wicket partnership with Deepti, which rescued India from 124 for 6 at the end of the 27th over.

After that escape against Sri Lanka, India take on the other neightbours, Pakistan, in a neutral setting in Colombo where rain has sealed the fate of the previous fixture, involving Australia and Sri Lanka.

Walking away with two points, India will take on arch-rivals Pakistan will head into the game with deflated spirits after having endured a defeat against Bangladesh in a sluggish affair at the same venue three days ago.

India-W vs Pakistan-W Live Cricket Score: India's fitness levels in the field

Former India cricketer Saba Karim spoke about Team India’s fielding and fitness levels in a conversation with JioHotstar ahead of the Women’s World Cup clash between India and Pakistan on Sunday.

“In terms of catching efficiency, only New Zealand is right at the top. Even Australia and England haven’t done so well. But the Indian team is constantly trying to improve in this area. From what I’ve seen in practice sessions, the team spends a lot of time, even one-on-one, working on catching. It’s a process that will take some more time, but India’s fitness levels have improved significantly, and better fitness automatically enhances fielding. The team management, especially the fielding coach, is working very hard on this. The goal is to minimize drop-catch percentages, and that will help India remain in contention to lift the World Cup,” said Saba Karim.

India-W vs Pakistan-W Live Cricket Score: Can India win the World Cup?

Saba Karim on key factors for India to win the Women's World Cup:

“For India, the biggest challenge or factor would be to sustain good form, both individually, and as a team. For someone like Smriti Mandhana to maintain that level throughout the tournament will be a huge task, because the team will play at different venues against a variety of oppositions. Similarly, it’s the same story for the rest of the players. Experienced players need strong recovery programs so they can maintain peak performance. And there will be pressure because expectations have risen. India is being talked about as a strong contender to lift the World Cup, so that pressure will also build up. But I am confident that, as a team, India can absorb the pressure and enjoy the challenges ahead. These are a few factors essential for India’s success,” former India cricketer Saba Karim said in a conversation with JioHotstar ahead of the Women’s World Cup clash between India and Pakistan on Sunday.

Remember, that India have never won the Women's World Cup, despite coming close twice by reaching the final.

India-W vs Pakistan-W Live Cricket Score: The pressure of an IND vs PAK clash

Saba Karim talks about the pressure of an India vs Pakistan game.

“There will be pressure. That’s why India vs Pakistan has become such a big clash, even in the Women’s World Cup. Otherwise, it wouldn’t matter as much. India has played Pakistan before and generally, done well. But because of the so-called controversies that surround such matches, I’m sure the Indian team management and players have prepared simulations to perform under pressure. The best approach for India and the team management is to remove all outside distractions and focus on the game ahead. I’m confident that, with the experience of the Indian players and support staff, the team will put up a strong performance without being affected by any controversies. That said, I do agree that some pressure will exist for the Indian side,” Saba Karim said in a conversation with JioHotstar ahead of the Women's World Cup clash between India and Pakistan on Sunday.

India-W vs Pakistan-W Live Cricket Score: Eye on weather

As has been pointed out by The Indian Express' Vinayakk Mohanarangan, there is a heavy possibility of rain wreaking havoc with the India vs Pakistan game at Colombo.

The weather forecast for the capital city of Sri Lanka DOES NOT LOOK GOOD!

If the rain gets washed out, it's likely that it will be some relief to the players from both sides who are heading for unprecedented scrutiny judging by what we saw in the three Asia Cup games between India and Pakistan, where three whole weeks saw some issue or another.

India-W vs Pakistan-W Live Cricket Score: India have a record to protect

India have never lost to their neighbours in 11 previous ODI meetings. In fact, the closest margin of victory for India was when they prevailed by six wickets with 24 balls remaining at the 2013 World Cup in Cuttack while chasing, and by 80 runs after batting first in a match back in December 2006.

On Sunday afternoon at the R Premadasa Stadium, when India and Pakistan lock horns in their second matches of the World Cup, this is the record that Harmanpreet Kaur and her side have to protect.

Pakistan captain Fatima Sana, though, did not want to read too much into these records when asked about it at the pre-match press conference.

"Whatever records exist between India and Pakistan are meant to be broken. It’s not that Pakistan will never win against them. We believe in playing good cricket, no matter who the opponent is. So we won’t think about past history,” Fatima said.

HELLO

For the fourth Sunday in a row, it's India vs Pakistan on the cricket field. this time around, rather than Dubai, the game will be held in Colombo in Sri Lanka. And instead of the men's teams, the women's teams of India and Pakistan will square off in a match of the Women's World Cup.

What should we except? More drama for sure. Rain also. And no handshakes.

Women’s World Cup: Ahead of India vs Pakistan in Colombo, no questions ‘on the politics that are taking place at the moment’

For the fourth straight Sunday, the cricketing world will tune in for India vs Pakistan. After three weeks of acrimony and off-field drama in Dubai during the men’s Asia Cup, the attention now shifts to the women at the World Cup in Colombo.

On Saturday, at the pre-match press conference, a reporter from a Pakistani media organisation – who was expecting to see India captain Harmanpreet Kaur address the media but instead found bowling coach Aavishkar Salvi in front of him – asked if there would be a spillover of the controversies from the Asia Cup.

It was a two-part question, as Salvi was also asked – to his amusement – about his experience of working in Sri Lanka, which he promptly denied. The ICC media manager quickly stepped in as the reporter concluded. “Just a reminder, please. We said that we’re not taking that first question, so we’ll move on to the second question.”
