UAE break the partnership off the very next delivery as the Indian skipper is cleaned up. A minor speedbump in India's innings, one that comes too late for UAE's sake. They've already accumulated 87 runs from just eight overs, and have eight wickets in hand to get to 108.
Muhammad Farooq with the ball. Abhishek goes gung-ho but miscues it straight into the night-sky, long-off has stationed himself perfectly for the catch but makes a mess of it in the end. That's the second time Abhishek has been dropped tonight, at the same place. After seven overs, India are 80/1.

Bowling from over-the-wicket, he had targeted the outside off stump line really well until that last delivery. Rahman continues from the other end. Now it's the captain who gets into the act. A cut caressed behind the stumps down deep backward point to get off the mark.

The UAE skipper Basil Hameed steams in from the other end. Abhishek Sharma takes little time to adjust to the spinner. Caresses it in front of square on the off-side for four, followed by the second maximum of the Indian innings on the leg side. But that's not it: length ball from the finger spinner, and Abhishek dances down the track to clear the long-on fence.
Hameed may have finished the over on a strong note but there's a catch dropped at the long-off fence and, much to UAE's agony, it's been topped across the fence for four. 19 runs from that over. India, 30/1 after two.

A total of six bowlers sharing the wickets among them - eight were used on the night - Rasikh Dar Salam being the pick among them. It was his first over that punctured the UAE batting in half as he snapped three wickets. There were spectacular moments in the field as well. A direct-hit-run-out from the skipper Tilak Varma, another fine catch from Wadhera at long-leg, but the Ayush Badoni screamer at long-off will stand out the most. For UAE, who kept going with their shots - what also led to wickets falling at regular intervals - Rahul Chopra was the sole star with the bat - a well made 50 off 50 deliveries.
For a batting unit that boasts the likes of Prabhsimran Singh, Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma up the order, this should be a pretty straightforward task. Stay tuned, India's chase of 108 coming on the other side.
The sole aberration of this Indian display with the ball has been Rahul Chahar. The most experienced bowler of the unit has been unable to find his rhythm and has strayed away too quickly from his lengths. Full, dished on the stump line, and the batter doesn't need a second invitation to bash it over the bowler's head for six. It doesn't get any better for the leggie. A short ball, again lined up on the middle stump, and Chopra pulls it clear of the deep mid-wicket fence. After 9 overs, UAE are 77/5.
Rasikh continues from the other end. He's taken over this innings by storm, let's see what he has for us in his second over. Basil Hameed bags a four through the vacant mid-off region. Next delivery is lined up on the fourth stump as well but this time, Rasikh beats him on the outside edge. The last laugh of the over belongs the batter though. Fetched full, wide outside off, and it's met with a crisp cover drive for four. 61/5 after 8 overs.

Syed Haider leaves the hat-trick ball but what a fine first over this has been from the 24-year-old pacer. And it continues to get better. After a flick that earns Haider a boundary, a nip-backer that castles him. Third wicket of the over. Half of the UAE batting back in the dressing room before the end of the sixth over. India secured a narrow seven-run victory over Pakistan in the ACC Men's T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024 on Saturday. Batting first after winning the toss, India posted a total of 183/8, fueled by a strong start from their openers. Pakistan's chase got off to a shaky beginning, but their middle order rallied to keep them in the contest. However, Rasikh Salman's impressive death bowling proved to be the difference, as he restricted Pakistan to 176/7. While India celebrated the win, there were areas where they could improve, particularly their middle-order batting and their ability to control the run rate in the middle overs.
