‘I ask him what car he is buying’: Rohit Sharma on his conversation with Babar Azam

Babar Azam says he looks at Rohit Sharma like a senior and always tries to learn from him.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma while addressing the captain’s press conference ahead of the T20 World Cup reveals what exactly he and Babar Azam talks about. The Indian captain said: “We all talk about our families and all. We talk about life, what new car did you buy. That’s all we talk about.”

When asked about Jasprit Bumrah, the Indian skipper said the premium bowler has done well for the team in the past but injuries are not in our control. We talked to specialists. “The World Cup is important, but his career is more important. He is 27-28, we can’t take risks. He has a lot of cricket left in him” he added.

India replaced Mohammed Shami with Jasprit Bumrah in the T20 World Cup squad on Friday. Rohit when asked about Shami said “He (Shami) will practice with the team. Shami is very positive, his recovery has been good. He has done 3-4 bowling sessions. Everything is going with Shami.”

On the other hand, Pakistan Skipper Babar Azam when asked about Rohit, he said: “Ye (Rohit) bade hai mujhse, main koshish karta hu inse experience lu kyuki inhone itna serve kia hua hai toh jitni zyada sikhi jay wo accha hai hamare lie. (Rohit Sharma is older than me. I try to take as much experience as possible from him as he has been playing for a long time.),” said Babar.

Babar Azam confirmed both Fakhar Zaman and star pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi are fit and ready to play. Left-arm quick Shaheen missed the Asia cup due to an injury. The fiery pacer was Man Of The Match against Indian in the 2021 World Cup in UAE.

India and Pakistan will meet at MCG on October 23. The Indian skipper said not to expect any last-minute changes in the playing XI for India.

All 16 captains addressed the press with Australia, Afghanistan, England, New Zealand, Namibia, Netherlands, Sri Lanka, and UAE. The second batch of captains was from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, South Africa, Ireland, Scotland, West Indies, and Zimbabwe.

The World T20 starts on Sunday, with Sri Lanka taking on Namibia in the opener.

Two teams from the qualifying groups will qualify for Super 12’s which will begin on October 22.
