The old BCCI policy of distributing match-day complimentary tickets to all state associations has been revived. The practice of giving four pavilion passes to every association – there are 38 of them now – was discontinued last year by the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) but the new Board dispensation has decided to bring it back. Each hosting association will now allot 152 (38*4 ) complimentary passes in all.
A circular signed by new BCCI secretary Jay Shah and sent to all state associations informed board members of the decision to reinstate their quota of tickets. “After discussing with my colleagues and fellow members, I have recommended the proposal of reinstating all the BCCI member quota tickets from the upcoming West Indies tour of India from December 6, 2019 onwards,” Shah wrote.
“It has been agreed and decided that the quota of complimentary tickets allotted to the state association which reduced by vide email dated October 6,2018 shall now stand reinstated and revised by allowing the members (38) to collect four main pavilion passes per match.”
As was the practice during pre-CoA days, the BCCI secretary will have more complimentary tickets at his disposal (100) than the president (75) for each match as the former is considered to be a more hands-on official in day-to-day board affairs.
Two Mumbai selectors sacked
Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) president Vijay Patil has sacked two members of its senior selection committee, Pradeep Kasliwal and Sanjay Patil.
The decision comes after outrage over recent selections when the panel dropped Tushar Deshpande and included an inexperienced bowling attack for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. It is learnt that the chairman of the selection committee Milind Rege met Patil on Wednesday morning and expressed his unhappiness over the selections.
The sackings took place later in the day and Deshpande and Sujit Naik were included in the Mumbai squad for the Twenty20 domestic tournament.
