After defeating Anish Giri in Saturday's opening round at the Tata Steel chess event in Wijk aan Zee, Gukesh held Vladimir Fedoseev to a draw on Sunday in round 2 to stay unbeaten into his reign as the 18th world champion of the sport. Praggnanandhaa defeated Pentala Harikrishna while Leon Luke Mendonca lost to Nodirbek Abdusattorov, a day after allowing Vincent Keymer to defeat him. Meanwhile, Arjun Erigaisi was also held to a draw by Anish Giri after putting the Dutchman under significant pressure on the board and on the clock in the middle game. Arjun had lost to the veteran Pentala Harikrishna on Saturday.
