India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni today lauded his new spin twins Ravichandran Ashwin and Pragyan Ojha for putting up an admirable performance on tracks that were not exactly tailor-made for spinners.
8220;It was pleasing to see them spinners fight batsmen on a wicket,which was not helping them,specially in the first innings of both Test matches,8221; Dhoni told reporters here.
8220;He is learning that. The good thing is that both the spinners complimented each other. They are hunting well. Their performance was really good in the series.8221;
On Tendulkar8217;s form,Dhoni said that whenever people talk about his form,the veteran comes up with brilliant performances.
8220;I am just waiting for it. I don8217;t get worried about that,8221; he insisted.
As far as Gautam Gambhir8217;s batting worries are concerned,Dhoni said that the Delhi batsman is batting well in the nets and it is just a matter of time before he bounces back.
8220;Today as a matter fact he started off really well. We are hoping he will come good in coming few games,8221; said Dhoni,adding that that there was no question of reshuffling the batting order.
Cheteshwar Pujara may have shown signs of filling into the big shoes of Rahul Dravid,having scored a brilliant 159 in the first Test at Hyderabad but Dhoni said the team would always miss the legendary batsmen 8212; Dravid and Laxman.
8220;We miss their Laxman and Dravid kind of performance they have given for last 12 to 15 years. I feel the boys coming in are not replacing anyone,they are coming in with their own character.
8220;It was nice to see them perform. It is a continuous learning process for them and they are shaping really good,that8217;s a big positive for us,8221; said Dhoni.
Heaping praise on Virat Kohli,the captain said,8221;He batted brilliantly,specially in Bangalore Test because the team needed someone to soak up pressure and he was the guy who did that in both innings here.8221;
Denying that he has changed anything about his own batting,Dhoni said,8221;If the ball is in my area I will hit it because it is important to score runs. If you have played 100 balls in a day,you should at least get 40-45 runs,if not more.
8220;I am not curbing my instinct too much,but I am trying to improve as a cricketer.8221;
