
DAVANAGERE, Jan 14: Vedamurthy, a police constable was suspended from duty on Wednesday for biting the thumb of a Circle Inspector, following a scuffle.
Inspector General of Police A R Infant said here that Circle Inspector Rudramuni caught Vedamurthy driving without a license and number plate, on Wednesday. The police had launched a special drive to nab two-wheeler drivers who do not hold valid documents.
Vedamurthy began arguing with the Circle Inspector. There was a verbal clash between the two and all of a sudden, Vedamurthy bit Rudramuni8217;s thumb. However, he fled the scene when the finger started bleeding.
The constable was later arrested by the police and was produced in the munsiff court. CPI Rudramuni was treated for the injury at the Government hospital.
Vedamurthy was suspended for misbehaviour with a senior police official. A case has been registered against him, police sources said.
