While most people make a face at the mention of salads, the ace fashion designer has found her favourite in the Jennifer Aniston salad. Wait, what? Yes, Jennifer Aniston salad gets its name from the renowned celebrity Jennifer Aniston of the show Friends. She once shared the recipe for the salad on Instagram. There are claims that she used to eat it every day for ten years while shooting for the show.
Meanwhile, the Masaba Masaba actor captioned the Instagram Stories, “Can’t stop eating the Jennifer Aniston salad at work”.

The Jennifer Aniston salad typically comprises a combination of fresh and nutritious ingredients. It has numerous health benefits due to its nutrient-rich ingredients.
“The mixed greens provide fibre, vitamins A and K, and folate, while the cucumber and tomatoes contribute hydration and additional vitamins and minerals,” said Sukhleen Kaur, nutritionist, lifestyle coach, and founder, DietScripts.
Registered dietitian Garima Goyal said that the salad includes various elements that make it very wholesome such as bulgur wheat, cucumber, parsley, mint leaves, red onion, chickpeas, feta cheese, and pistachios.
“Avocado adds healthy fats, while chicken or shrimp supplies protein. The light dressing made from lemon juice and olive oil adds flavour and healthy monounsaturated fats. The salad is low in calories and can support weight management, promote healthy digestion, and provide a range of essential nutrients for overall well-being,” said Kaur.
Goyal shared:
*Ideal blend of macronutrients – This salad recipe is a perfect wholesome meal that has an ideal proportion of complex carbohydrates, protein, and healthy fats along with vitamins and minerals.
Filling recipe – The base of the recipe is chickpeas and bulgur wheat are dense with fibre, thus giving satiety for a long duration and preventing hunger pangs.
Quick to prepare – This salad is very easy and quick to prepare, considering it is made with simple ingredients easily available in the kitchen pantry.
How to make it?
Ingredients
Bulgur wheat
Water
Vegetable broth or chicken broth
Olive oil
Lemon juice
Salt and pepper
Cucumber
Chickpeas
Red oion
Fresh herbs
Pistachios
Feta cheese
Method
*To cook bulgur wheat, place bulgur and two cups of water (or chicken or veggie broth) in a small saucepan (with a lid) over medium heat. *Bring to a boil, put the lid on, turn the heat low, and cook until all the cooking liquid is absorbed.
*Let it rest while you are working on the rest of the ingredients.
*Right before adding it to the salad, fluff it with a fork.
To make the salad dressing
*In a measuring cup (or a small bowl), whisk together lemon juice, olive oil, and salt and pepper.
*To assemble the salad: In a large salad bowl, place the now-cooked bulgur, cucumber, chickpeas, red onion, fresh herbs, pistachios, and feta cheese.
*Drizzle with the salad dressing.
*Give it a gentle toss, taste for seasoning, and add more if necessary before serving.
One can customise the salad by adding or substituting ingredients based on your preferences or dietary needs, said Kaur as she shared another way of making the salad.

1/4 cup thinly sliced red onions
4 ounces roasted chicken or grilled shrimp (optional)
1 small avocado, sliced
Juice of 1 lemon
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
Fresh herbs (such as parsley or basil), chopped
Salt and pepper to taste
Method
*In a large bowl, combine the mixed greens, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, and red onions.
*Add the roasted chicken or grilled shrimp to the salad.
*Add the sliced avocado on top.
*In a small bowl, whisk together the lemon juice, olive oil, fresh herbs, salt, and pepper to make the dressing.
*Drizzle the dressing over the salad and gently toss to combine.
