After two candidates fraudulently claimed that they were selected for UPSC CSE 2022, the commission is taking disciplinay and criminal against them. The two candidates-- Ayesha Makrani and Tushar of Rewari claimed that they had been selected against the roll numbers of genuinely selected candidates who had the same first names. "There is a slight change in the pattern. The Assertion and Reason type of questions are not presented conventionally. Even more noticeable: in the multiples, it is not asked as to which ones are correct. Rather, the question was how many multiples are correct. Specifics are not required and so it can help everyone to get just a bit luckier. There are quite a few easy ones like the Question about the G-20,MSMEs,uranium,bordering countries of Ukraine,Kachins etc. Net net, the paper is not a shocker," Sriram Srirangam Founder and Director of Sriram’s IAS said.

Students share UPSC exam review through memes

More than 3,300 candidates on Sunday appeared for the UPSC preliminary examinations at 12 designated centres here, an official said.
No untoward incident has been reported in the state capital since this morning, police said. “Altogether, 4,051 candidates had registered for UPSC preliminary tests at 12 sub-centres in Imphal. However, due to the ongoing violence, 700 had opted to appear for the exam at centres outside the state" an official of the Manipur Public Service Commission said.
In view of the Manipur violence that began on May 3, the Union Public Service Commission had given options to civil service aspirants from the state to appear for the preliminary tests at centres in Aizwal, Kohima, Shillong, Kolkata and Delhi, he said.

"The trend has changed for questions. I would call it tough. Few moderate and easy questions were there but those were not much. Elimination has become even more difficult this year. Dominance of current affairs. It has become even more important. Static books won't work," Praveen Parihar, an aspirant from Jodhpur

"Paper was lengthy because statement based questions were asked. Couldn't apply elimination techniques or any other technique much because of the nature of options. History question were mostly memory based. Personally, polity wasn't a problem since I am a law student. But questions were taking time. I found the paper different from past years," says Mayank who appeared in the Prelims exam today at Ghaziabad centre.

Ishita Kishore, a Delhi University (DU) graduate from Gautam Buddha Nagar, topped the UPSC CSE in her third attempt. She graduated with an Economics (Honours) degree from Delhi University's Shri Ram College of Commerce. AIR 2 Garima Lohia from Buxar in Bihar, is also a DU graduate with a Commerce degree from Kirorimal College while Uma Harathi N from Telangana, who holds a BTech degree from IIT Hyderabad, came third. Smriti Mishra, a BSc graduate from DU’s Miranda House College, secured the fourth rank.

Educationist Manoj Soni today took oath as the chairman of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), an official said. Soni, who joined the Commission as the member on June 28, 2017, has been performing the duties of the UPSC chairman since April 5, 2022, he said on Monday. Read more

A figure updated to the current year is not available, but the numbers available for forty years from 1975 to 2014 show that students who graduated from Delhi University performed much better than their counterparts from other universities.

In fact, the number from Delhi University — as per the annual reports (1975-2014)* released by the UPSC — is so ahead of the second one in the list, that it is unlikely the position would have changed in the eight years since 2014. Read the full story here

UPSC Civil Services 2023 Prelims paper II will be conducted in second shift. The CSAT, which is a qualifying paper, will be conducted from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm

“Candidates of Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2023 in Manipur may collect e-Admit Cards from their respective District Headquarters from May 22, in case they find difficulty in downloading the same,” the official UPSC notification stated.

Before the exam begins, candidates should remember to carry their UPSC admit cards, original ID Proof, two passport size photographs and black ball point pen to the exam hall

UPSC is set to conduct the Civil Services prelims exam 2023 today. The GS 1 exam will be conducted in morning shift from 9:30 am to 11:30 am
