Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Saturday said that he would file an appeal in the High Court against rejection of the revised income tax returns filed by him, as he termed the development “politically motivated.”
Watch what else is making news:
“We would contest the orders and file an appeal in the High Court and also in the Supreme court, if the need arose,” Virbhadra Singh said. His reaction came after the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) dismissed Singh’s appeal filed against the I-T department’s move to reopen assessment of tax returns submitted by him for fiscal 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12.
“The Income tax Tribunal had been set up by Union Finance minister Arun Jaitley and in spite of four judges in the tribunal, two special judges were sent from Delhi to hear my case, thus the matter is politically motivated,” Singh alleged.
