Following a public confrontation between a BJP MLA and a Cabinet minister in Uttarakhand over the transfer of a forest officer, the party has issued a call for restraint and decorum among its ministers, MLAs, and public representatives while advocating for developmental projects. On Wednesday, Uttarakhand BJP president Mahendra Bhatt said that both the parties — Durgeshwar Lal, a BJP MLA from Purola, and state Forest Minister Subodh Uniyal — have expressed regret to the party leadership regarding the incident. Lal on Tuesday staged a protest outside Uniyal's residence, demanding a smooth relocation of the Divisional Forest Officer in Purola. Lal criticised the DFO for lack of activity and impeding developmental projects in the area. Additionally, he accused the minister of using casteist language against him when discussing the issue. In response, Uniyal said he had instructed the Chief Conservator of Forests to investigate allegations against the DFO and furnish a report within a week. Despite this, Lal persisted in demanding an immediate transfer of the DFO. Uniyal said Lal on Tuesday was "upset" and had "torn a letter" by the minister. Bhatt said it was normal for MLAs to meet ministers on issues of public concern.
